On this day 23rd June in 1993 Stan Collymore joined Nottingham Forest from Southend United.

He would go on to score 41 goals in 65 league appearances for the club over 2 seasons.

Phenomenal.

He really was a random choice wasnt he.
Tried to play some decent football but the squad he had was atrocious.

Nice bloke, nice cheese and a nice chant for him too, Philippe Phillipe to the tune of Denis Denis.

I liked him and I liked his style of football too but he was dealt a poor hand by our recruitment team at the time.

27 years ago today on 1/7/1995, Frank Clarke used most of the cash generated from Stan Collymore's sale to sign Kevin Campbell and Chris Bart-Williams for Nottingham Forest.

Unfortunately we never got to see the three of them all in the same team.

A combination of Stan and Campbell would have frightened defenders to death.

Was Silenzi not bought as well?

Super Kevin Campbell didn't really get to show his true self consistently until his 3rd season due to persistent back injury. Suspect Frank would have never lost his job when he did otherwise.

If I remember well Silenzi was before Stan?

No Stan was 93-95, his best 2 years of form in his career in my opinion.
Silenzi was a direct replacement signed summer 95 as a bit of European glitz to appease fans after Stans
departure.

Campbell was indeed a superb finisher when he finally came good but persistent injury meant he was pretty poor the first 2 years we had him.

Stan and PVH the best centre forwards in my time watching Forest. Add in Nigel if you want too. Hoping Taiwo can add to the list.
