That could be a good sign though.

Yeah, we have only ever heard very late in the day who is being signed over the past few windows.

In fairness, Gerrard did say that he wanted to have a look at him in pre-season before any decisions were made on his future. We are only just over a week after last season ended. Give em a chance lads!!!

Sorry Tricks but as I put in the transfer thread we cant wait for clubs who want to reassess in preseason, that means they miss pre season with us. Think we need to be utterly ruthless to have a chance.

On the other hand still think he will come here, pretty sure Villa will spend big on a striker which would put Keinan down to 4th or 5th choice. Im certain he is up for sale.

Agree with you there Sal. This is why other names are being linked and if you are right in your above comment, then I don't think we will sign Davies. We will have moved on and Villa will be stuck with an additional striker on their books. But that isn't our problem, that's theirs

I actually think we need to be patient and get the right players rather than panic and move on to weaker players who are easier to sign. Young players like Garner and Davies would be ideal signings. I think this one will happen anyway personally.

Surely this year is about setting up the club for the long term by signing good young players with resale values so that if we did go down we are well placed to make an immediate return. Davies, Gibbs White etc seem ideal candidates for that. Got to use this year to build the foundations for the future.

Bloody hell Wassy we have swapped roles! i am screaming for more players you are saying quality over quantity.

Of course you are correct but it is probably both quality and quantity needed. Ideally we survive the season but the worst case scenario is we do a load of panic buys like a couple years ago and then we get relegated with a whole heap of expensive but bang average players on our books.

This time I actually trust our recruiting teams and more crucially Cooper.

Sounds like they have been planning for all events leading up to the end of the season (Premier League or Championship) so I would hope that any one we buy would have been well thought out and not a "panic" buy

I know made me laugh, don't worry I'll keep you grounded while you're off spending EM's millions on Bale and co!

Ooh Bale now theres a thought, what could possibly go wrong.

While were at it Mane is available, we could trump Bayern with a cheeky £35m bid!

They really are the last people I'd want to see join. Bale had his chance, he didn't want it.

I'd probably take Mane...

We can't sit around waiting for Gerrard to make up his mind at the start of August though.
