Brennan Johnson

Im just hoping thats irrelevant. Win our next 4 games and he will sign a PL contract with us.

Assuming a sale is to take place this summer, the modest length of his contract is only relevant to a buying club if they're daring enough to take the risk of waiting for his contract to expire, like we seem to be with Jed Wallace. As Brennan's a hot prospect, if one club is prepared to wait, another wont be and that club will pay a decent fee to secure his services. I think we'll get top dollar if we circulate his availability this summer. Maybe that's even happened already? I'd set the level high and see if there's any nibblers on the line.

Brennan seeing out his contract would mean another 12 months of earning low money. And it's probably really low compared to the other players, I bet he's only earning £3 or 4k p/w at the moment. The loss in wages by staying put might be £2m alone so it's not necessarily the obvious thing for them to do. And that would be on top of the money he's not earned this season by refusing to sign a contract. So the sweet spot for both parties is this summer.

His reps talking with Brentford and Everton last week with further talks planned with other teams including Leicester.

We may need to sell anyway to balance the books but this is Poor timing for me, and if true shows his advisers want him away in the summer regardless.

Personally I don't believe any of that what the click baits were reporting.

Don't rule out him staying with us.

I'd be shocked if he refused a new deal in the prem.

In the championship we have to sell someone to meet FFP so would make sense to be Brennan as we'll get a lot. If we sold Worrall though for example then perhaps Brennan could sign a new deal.

I can see them both going if we miss out on the prem. £25m for Brennan and £12m for Wozza. Two big losses to the team but the money would really set us up for an assault on auto's next season if we can find the right players to replace the goals and assists of Brennan. Brentford did it a couple of years ago. They lost Watkins and Benrahma for massive money, re-invested in Toney and got up the next season. The key is bringing in the right replacements.

Agreed, I think it would be the right approach. Worth pointing out we'll also need to replace Garner & Spence, plus Davis/Lowe (may well sign permanently) in that scenario minimum.

I guess we'd be hoping for a combination of Layrea, Ojeda, Surridge, Panso/Soh to fill some of that void.

Yep good point! Feels like we'll need to get a few good loans again in that scenario to challenge high up.

Maximum of 2 loans at any one time in the Prem.

Lol, this was if we were in Championship!

Although I'd expect us to use those two slots well

That's consecutive massive games he's played in where his team have won 1-0 with an own goal separating the sides. Doubt that's ever been done before!

And VAR ignored a possible penalty claim. (Both Samba and Hennessey would have saved them though....)
