Interesting look at the current form table from games played in 2022
What stood out is that we have played only 9 games so far, less than almost all our rivals, a staggering 5 games less than Preston. However we have picked up points at 2/game which if we continue I still believe will see us into the top 6.
As I wrote earlier its that fixture pile up at the end of the season that worries me.

Last year of payment: Fulham(if not relegated again) hudders, Cardiff.
Middle year of payment: Bournemouth (Norwich) (Watford)
First year of payment: Fulham WBA Sheff Utd.
You gotta say, you can see that drop off for Cardiff - 5th, 8th, currently 17th.
Probably also shows how Bournemouth were awake to buy half a team during january too!
Maybe it’s not Huddersfield are a strange one though - 18th, 20th, currently 2nd.
No surprise about Fulham though they had around 140 mil in parachute payments since the 15/16 season!

In Millwall's game with Blackburn in midweek they failed to register a single shot on goal scoring an xG of 0. This had not happened in the preceding 5 years according to the Athletic (not sure if they had stats before that). What a thriller that must've been

Thought I'd look at the xG table to gauge an idea of who will make playoffs. Boro are 3rd, WBA 4th, Coventry and surprisingly Cardiff are 6th. Seems like Cardiff have conceded a lot more goals than expected, maybe they have a dodgy keeper.
Huddersfield, QPR and Blackburn are 10, 11, 12 perhaps suggesting they have pushed their luck and will return to the mean before the end of the season. We're in the same position as the league although unsurprisingly if you remove the CH games we jump to 4th.
I remember looking at this during the Sabri year and we were around midtable and it showed in the finish to the season.
Definitely gives me hope of getting above Hudds, QPR and Blackburn

Any metric that has Cardiff in 6th and West Brom in 4th is just plain old b****ks. Both sides are utter rubbish this season.

WBA were top 3 until their recent collapse so that'll skew it. Cardiff was a weird one, was based on defence rather than attack ie that they're conceding way more goals than expected compared to chances conceded. I've only watched them play vs us but they played well enough in that game.

Cardiff are a typical championship side in a transitional period. They have some good youngsters coming through.

Who do want to win tonight, West Brom or Uddersfield?
Draw is best result but if a team has to win Id say Udders is better for us. We dont need West Brom gaining confidence and picking up points again.

Barnsley beating Fulham at the moment - would love to see them hold on. They still have home games with Reading, Peterboro, Bristol City and PNE which are all winnable and would probably put them out of sight of sheep molesters.
