If we want Prem football we've gotta get out of this mentality.

Don't get me started on watching Forest against teams like Liverpool in the prem.  I'll summarise. Id prefer to see us play a Barnsley at home knowing we can win rather than go to a game against Man City knowing we're almost certain to lose.

Sorry Pap mate Im calling you out on this logic.

So by what you are saying it would be better still to be in League 1 and then we get to spank AFC Wimbledon and Fleetwood every week?

It doesnt work like that as you know. If we have any ambition we will have to take our chance. Lets be real too, the only reason our owner continues to pump millions in every year is because of the chance of PL football.

OK I get all the likely "League is priority....don't want injuries....blah blah" posts that will probably appear  but IF we manage to get past a very good Huddersfield side then we will have our biggest game for over 20 years bar none.

Stay with me on this,:

Supporters of a certain age and generation have lifelong memories. Storey Moore, Robbo, Colin Barett, Trev, Birtles  Brian Rice etc.... but you lads and lasses under the age of about 27-30 have pretty much f#(k all of any where near that magnitude-until Fester. Man City home, Highbury in 88, OT in 89, Villa Park 91. The FA Cup is magical.

All these teenagers and 20 somethings , you now have the chance of an "I was there" day, making your own memories that you can reminisce about in the pub when you're fat old and going grey like me.

So for those who don't remember why we hate Liverpool or worse still  admire them or even like them  IF Forest do the business on Monday  you will see why. And should we beat them, it will be a day etched in the memory banks for life.

",In your Liverpool slums...."
"Who put the ball in the Scousers net...."
"He's only a poor little Scouser...."

F#(k me it's already started whilst I was preparing my previous post. Come on Paplane visualise 4k Scousers crying as they are vanquished by the original reds as 26k Trickies celebrate at the final whistle. It could happen.

Bollocks to Barnsley home, bring on the Scousers.

Yes, could happen, but pretty much every club in Europe has struggled to make it happen so lets face it, we're not going to win that game are we?

If this was how it was then yes I would prefer a season in League 1, where we won every game and won the league than another midtable championship season or a year getting smashed about in the prem. However I seem to remember that wasn't how it was in league 1 anyway.

I get where Pap is coming from although I do think we've proven in the previous rounds we're capable of playing the top sides and not looking out of place. Would've preferred boro at home though as it would've maximised our chance of getting through.

On the wider point, I know plenty of Norwich fans weirdly and they love the promotion seasons but don't enjoy the prem seasons. Same with the Leeds fans I know too right now. For me the perk of going up would be financial stability and the knowledge that if we went back down we'd have para payments for years so we'd have a few fun years.

I know im being a miserable old trout again Salv and you're right to bash me.  What I would say is if we did get into the prem you'd hope the team would have been invested in and so be more competitive. But were not there yet and so if we did beat Hudders on Monday, is the energy expended on a Liverpool tie worth the risk to our play off hopes?

But how would you feel if they came with their second string and did us at a canter and we then lost a couple of league games after due to tiredness? Distinct possibility.

I’m with you on this.

A bad defeat to the Mickeys could really derail us.

Leicester beat Liverpool this season. Liverpool played against pretty much the same Arsenal team that we beat a few days later and drew 0-0. Yes it’s a small sample size but I think, were we to beat Huddersfield, we’d give a good account of ourselves against Liverpool too.
