Agreed! I was telling a Welsh mate this last night bemoaning his decision.......he genuinely thought Brennan was Welsh!!!

Daft because a trivial amount in the grand scheme of things and as his worth has rocketed he will want  more to accept now than he would have done a couple months ago.

The wages side of it is not the issue.

They wanted an 8m release clause inserting last summer.

Why on earth they want a realise clause, I don’t know because we have never stood in a young players way.

Offer him 10% of the transfer fee as a loyalty payment, surely that would then suit both parties

Yep, that's the way to do it. Any release clause gives the player, not the club to option to dictate the time of departure. It's just such a blunt instrument for a young player and imo just fosters a sense of non commitment, like they (the Johnson's) are negotiating the terms of a transfer, rather than agreeing the way forward for a talented lad and his first big contract.

Not what I heard and from who I believe to be a reliable source.

Spot on, Reds73.

There's a deal to be done.

Forest have never stood in any Academy player's way.

Worrall could have been gone last Summer.  More down to Brentford that he's still here.

Seems like the Club made the decision to keep Brennan and he wants to stay.  So if that's the case, let's get the deal done.

Need to get that contract sorted.  Brennan doesn't have it hanging over him so can enjoy his football and Forest don't lose out to some artificial release clause that stiffs the club as he's worth far more than £8 million.

“We knew Brennan was always going to stay through the January window.

I spoke to the owner last week and had a very good chat with him down in London. He was fantastic.

He told me how he sees the club and its future. We said great, we'll carry on talks.”

He goes on to say he sees him in the premiership at a club who want him as a starter. Reading between the lines he wasn’t happy that he didn’t get a chance sooner and the contract offered in September was miles away. Looks like he is happy to see put this season and look at it then. I don’t hold much hole of holding onto him if we don’t go up.

I think DJ came across very well and it seems Brennan is very well grounded, whats the point of going to a PL team unless you have assurances that you are going to play just to get farmed out on loan to the Champ might aswell stay at forest where hes with his family and freinds and loved by the fan . Brennan is going to play a major part in where we finish this season and i think will only get better towards the end of the year . He is a very special talent and hes learning the right was got games at Lincoln under the right manager now Copper is taking him to that next level . I will go as far as saying he will probably end up being the best the academy had produced if he carries on this way . He will soon be Wales star player no Bale is out of the picture.
