For me the choice is simple. The old girl remains the City Ground. End of!
If the new stand gets built (IF!) it will still be a part of the City Ground. The same as when the Bridgford End was redeveloped or the Trent End was redeveloped or when the Executive Stand was developed, it was always at the City Ground. A new stand doesnt change the name of our home. It changes the look of our home.
Unless we actually move away from our current site, then it will always be the City Ground or World Famous City Ground. Even if we did move (highly unlikely I know), I would hope the new ground would be called the New City Ground then. Like Millwall moved from the Den to the New Den. That is a part of their identity. The City Ground is not only a part of our clubs identity, but a part of Nottingham's, as it was changed to the City Ground to celebrate Nottingham becoming a city in its own right.
Sponsors can spend as many millions of pounds as they like renaming the old girl, but to us supporters, it will always be the City Ground. A bit like at Mansfield and the One Call Stadium............I still call their ground Field Mill and always will do, cos that is what the place is, not the name of a company, but the name of a football clubs home.
