I don't think we need a DOF sticking his nose in too. Just my opinion of course but there appears to be enough chefs in the kitchen.
^ Fully agree ^
I do not get that stance, all successful clubs that want to use this type of model have a CEO and DOF.
The DOF is a vital day to day part of the implementation and continuation. A CEO does not have the opporunity if they are doing all other aspects of the CEO role of a club.
And not sure why we have a DOF that does notnot carry out that duty. What it does explain is the differing methods used within the youth team and first team.
Until we fully grasp that nettle, we're staying in the Championship. I think it's coming though. The new CEO, the Manager appointed with Youth development experience. The younger age of the squad. The promotion of the 14 academy players to the 1st team squad.
We need to have more conviction in our 'Forest Way' identity. That u23s performance vs Birmingham was 5 star. We need to bring that brand to the 1st team.
Though the u23s lost vs Wolves 4-0, there was no shame in the brand of football or the effort that put into that Caravan Cup match.

Think there is often a blurring of roles and their titles. I always said under our old structure we desperately needed a DOF to work alongside the manager and take some pressure off, front up to the media etc. We now have a much larger backroom team so I dont think it will be as necessary and Dane seems to do a lot more of the front of house stuff.

Old saying SM and Sniffer, "to many cooks spoil the broth" who would make the final footballing decisions if a multitude of differing opinions come together? That's why you need a DOF in the new set-up we are using as that problem would sit with him!

That's probably the old way of going about things JL. Dane is bringing in an entirely new way of doing things, more akin to meet modern day football.

Forest? 'Modern?'
The very idea... ;)
With the new data approach, recruitment team, the new CEO and a 'Coach' that dovetails into the new integrated Academy/1st team approach, it's starting to look like Forest have an off field football strategy that pulls in one direction.
Truth north and all that.
Whatever next, Ice Baths?

All other top clubs that operate properly with those ideas in mind have a CEO and a DOF, why would we be any different? You cannot have one person running a football club, just not possible.

Totally agree MR, 2 separate defined roles is what we need to finalise the new management team. DOF brings all FOOTBALL aspects associated with the club together while the CEO runs the entire club including financial elements.

Isn't that what Gary Brazil is doing though?

No that I'm aware of tricky, but then again as you alluded to earlier, communication is not great so he could well be that he is but certainly not how his role was defined when he took it on.
