Wilder was on Radio 5 yesterday; when asked about the job he said he would have loved it but did not even get the chance to speak with us.
Yes i know he did but I don't believe him
He couldn't really say yes I was interviewed and I spoke to Forest while Chris Hughton was still in charge.
I don't understand this one Sniff. Why would Wilder state that he really wants the job but that Forest doesn't want him? Wouldn't really enhance his chances of getting a new job.

Well, that's it Pap, he has a reputation for falling out with people.
He was big mates with McCabe at the Blades who used to let him just get on with things; once McCabe had gone things quickly turned sour.
Aye. There's the rub.
And I don't see the current hierarchy coping with that if they couldn't cope with Aitor, MoN or Keane.

I’d be more happy if he did indeed speak to us but it didn’t fit.
He wouldn't get the control he wanted meaning he'd effectively be hung out to dry or trying to do it 'his' way with one hand tied behind his back (which probably happened to Hughton who probably didn't get the targets he wanted for his style of football.)
The new incumbent is already 'stuck' with 'ten' players that were brought in that they didn't pick. Forest probably want someone who can come in and work with the collegiate structure (Plan B) that they're setting up. The coaching of young players. The link between the Academy and the 1st team. (And personally, if Forest can transition the Academy to the 1st team, I think they'll walk the league.). It suggests Cooper as the pick. It suggests a common ethos between a 'new CEO', new Data led approach, new players based off that, New 'Coach' (urghh...that word...) to fulfil the 'new' Plan B.
Wilder.
Probably the one Forest fans would want. (Me included.)
But it's the hierarchy doing the picking.

I was watching the rise of the Premier program on tv at the moment. (4 episodes. Very enlightening.)
And there was this deal between two clubs for a player. One team wanted 'x' figure. But the spending club said they'd only give 'y'. So the club getting the money said, 'But can you say publicly that you paid the higher price we wanted?' Spending club did indeed say the higher figure. But they really got the player 250k cheaper as they buying club (Man U) wouldn't budge on the price. It was a straight million.

I agree with you that Wilder may bring problems. Im going to be balanced on this though.
Cooper fell out with the hierarchy at Swansea over the direction the club was taking, reduction in funds, dealing with a foreign ownership, frustrations at not being able to bring in a striker of his choice back in January. All are problems he will face here.

Reduction in funds, dealing with foreign ownership. Not being able to bring in a striker of his own choice, eh? He'll fit right in here at Forest. All he has to do is bring some 'boring' football and we're golden.
A big list of 'potentials' with Copper in front with Wilder hugging no.2.

4th lowest number of shots in the Championship I believe.
That said I still think he could be a good choice and long term, his work with developing young players I am very optimistic about. If you want another short term fix though, forget it. The question is do either the fans or the owners really have the patience for the stability they claim to want?

Good points!
Cooper will need to deal with all of those issues, but at least he will be arriving with his eyes wide open.
My worries with a Cooper appointment is the perception that he will be a Hughton mk2 with a rigid approach to defensive play which sacrifices attacking intent.
It is to be hoped to God that he takes time to look at our performances this season and notes the stark difference between what the players are like when allowed off of the leash, compared to the muted performances prior to Saturday.
We were treated to the best of both worlds on Saturday; bright, lively passing and movement when we got the chance, and disciplined defensive play when we had to - there is no reason why the two should be mutually exclusive.
One thing that stood out on Saturday was what a huge upgrade Spence and Lowe are on what we had last season; Zinckernagel looks like an upgrade on Konckheart and with Drager Ojeda and Silva still to show what they are made of, we could end up with a transfer window that looks more inspired by the day.
