I am not important Pap nor a VIP but we have a family member who works for EM.

Was the big man there with you Sniif?

Other than the fact he took Sheff U from League 1 to the Prem in 4 years, the reasons I think he's the stand-out candidate is:

1) He got Sheff U all pulling in the same direction from the youth setups, through the mid-squads, to the top.
2) He's already successfully managed in League 1 should we go down, the Prem if by some miracle we ever go up.
3) He plays good football.
4) He's used to using 3 CB's. Probably our strongest area currently.
5) He's a big fan of the Forest academy, and will undoubtable already know some of the players there. I'd say his ethos (attitude first) falls in line with Brazil's, so that'd work a treat too.

6) He's not a fashionable manager, so if/when we start doing well we're not likely gonna have big clubs come knocking.
7) He's an appointment that would get fans back on side and lift spirits.

Not saying Cooper can't do a job, but I think Wilder is such a good fit for this club.

Don't worry, I know it won't happen. The more I think about Cooper as an appointment, the more I fear he'll be sacked as "Hughton MK2" in a few months. Time will tell.

I hear you, Alf.

My concern with that is do we have the players capable of playing that formation. I think defensively, we are well equipped as well as the wing backs. Its in the attacking final third where I see us failing (still), due to a lack of any prolific striker. Would a change in formation help Grabs or Taylor? Its possible, but so far this season they have played alongside each other and there looks to be little, if any connection between the two of them. We could, and probably should, use Brennan Johnson as the support striker though.

As allured to in another post though, Chris Wilder is a man that don't take no crap off of anybody. This could create a fractious atmosphere at the club, particularly when it comes to bringing in new players.

A lot of Sheff Utd fans are still angry that he was sacked, which shows he was popular amongst their fanbase. I accept that he was one of their players before going into management and there is that touch of sentimentality surrounding him, but Stuart Pearce was one of our players but that didn't stop our fans from turning on him, so there must be something else that he was doing right for them. Exciting, entertaining football maybe? If so, I am sure we would all welcome some of that! He is available and wouldn't cost the club any compensation fee.

Then we have Steve Cooper. He did a good job at Swansea, but his preferred formation is the dreaded 4-2-3-1, which we all detest here at the City Ground, largely due to the fact that our players concentrate on the defensive aspect far too much and do not give enough support to the attacking third. Was that how they were coached by CH or is that the players natural tendency? Could they be coached into using the system better? Possibly, but to what effect? Coopers departure from Swansea was greeted with a mixed response, with some fans angry at his departure, whilst others were relieved to see him go due to the dour boring football his side was playing. That's not something we want at the City Ground anymore! His strength seem to lie in the encouragement of young players, which would fit in nicely with Dane's new philosophy, and he appears to be quite an amiable person too, which means he could be the same as Hughton was and lacking the passion to get the best out of his squad. But that is an assumption, so could be totally wrong.

And that's why it won't happen.

Pity.

I can't see it being Cooper. He's just not what Murphy as alluded to when talking about ethos.

I think that's exactly why it will be and not the likes of Wilder.

Still think it will be someone most of us have never heard of from somewhere almost unknown. In a way I'd be more hopeful if that happens rather than staying on the same merry go round that has delivered such long lasting misery.

I'd like Leonardo Jardim but suspect that may not happen after Marinakis sacked him from Olympiakos

I'd like someone obscure that no one has ever heard of, we can then google him and make up our minds as to how long before he's sacked.

Failing that Mike Bassett, I know a bit off a basket case but perfectly suited to us at the moment.

Its got to the point where I wonder if Unfinished Business mk3 is the perfect fit for us.
