I refuse to believe EM has given up and will let us sink to league 1.
But equally I also hope that if we do sell it is to someone who doesn’t own another football club. I honestly believe this is where the issues have arisen. Apply the same tactics to those that work in the Mickey Mouse Greek league in the championship will never work.
I mean the worst owners are often the ones that come with no footballing background as they have no idea what they're doing. Also, they're often the ones in it for financial gain which isn't very likely unless you manage to establish yourself at the top

Hopefully if EM does sell, the next owner will take advantage of our connections, and look to appoint someone like Stuart Pearce to help run the club.
I mean, how the **** has Johnny Owen, a Cardiff fan who's trade is in the film industry, got a position on our board?

Yes it’s cost him money, but if Jacob Marley has shown them the mistakes of recruitment past, and he’s now set up the right team to steer us forward with this plan B, then logic dictates if he actually believed in plan B then much of his financial pain may be behind him.
By quitting he would also surely make himself and Randall look a bit stupid (understatement) with their ‘commitment to the new stadium’ BS.
He's losing a min 13m a year to meet operating losses (usually more when you include non FFP expenses) so call it 20m. Depends how big that money pit is, I'm sure he can see that we're not really getting any closer to going up. The value of a championship club is all baked into getting into the prem, if not it's just years of painful losses.
I agree and you would be naive to think anything other than EM is ultimately in it to get PL money. The frustrating thing as DR says is that he could have had it. They have financial backing and the knowhow to run a Champions League football club yet have made mistakes that a novice owner would make.
Ive not given up on EM yet, still believe his intentions were good even if money driven and he is ultimately a winner. Yes it will be interesting to see what happens with the new stand, if planning still comes through etc, they looked serious enough to push it through by schmoozing a government minister over the summer.

Yeah Pearce should definitely be involved, it's a shame Fawaz burned him so much. He would make a great Director of Football too

It could be that he has realised the time and effort it ultimately requires to get out of the sodding championship. He has big businesses to run and his main club - maybe he feels he can't devote enough effort to Forest to get us where we need to be?

Yeah I believe in him too and his long term intentions, at the end of the day establishing us as a top level club is in our interest as well as his! I more just meant how much longer can he afford to just keep spending 20m+ a year to cover losses. Plus more if we do build the stand, I don't know how much money he actually has and his willingness to keep losing it.
Doesn't affect his ability to run the club properly but there has always been a short term strategy which ultimately didn't work (although got vaguely close under Sabri) I bet he badly regrets that January window right now.
He's certainly not withdrawing funding ala Mad Mel anytime soon.

That's a mighty fine bit of reasoning there Shawoddy and is a valid consideration. He is successful in all of his ventures and NFFC must be like a massive millstone around his neck, dragging him down in terms of his successes

Probably a large part of the reason if this is correct but surely the expression ‘eyes wide open’ applies?
Disappointing if it happens due to that Groundhog Day feeling but get it done quietly and quickly so there is minimum disruption. Maybe one day an owner will finally get it right or we will get a slice of Leicester level luck.

A few models to promotion:
1) Smash your way up by gambling & cheating big time on ffp (Wolves)
2) Slowly build your way up (Brighton),
3) Get a decent coach and let him coach the club (Sheff Utd, Leeds)
4) Go off piste or be a boutique club and do things differently (Brentford, Bournemouth)
We've got none of these going atm. Our best chance is probably hope for a new manager to come in and perform a miracle.

Good little summary that Paplane.
The problem with this club though is that it crosses philosophies. We buy a 13m creator, we then go on to employ managers who don't play with a player in his position. We employ a proven manager like Hughton who brings in some decent loans like Garner & Krovi (considering the position we were in), and we then decide it's time to impose someone to recruit over him. We takl about playing "Forest style football" to paraphrase in the open letter, then we sack the passing/attacking manager to bring in 4 attritional/defensive ones Etc.
Frankly, whoever is making these decisions at the club is an idiot.

I dunno about eyes wide open....I work a lot in Africa and the amount of people that try to do business there, who are very successful elsewhere else is astonishing! I'm not trying to compare Africa to the Champoinship but it's not just a copy and paste from his Greek league success. Perhaps he thought it would be perhaps, but looks like it's not been as he had hoped.
