Nope. Now even more crucial we get a manager who can get the old poachers scoring goals and Hughton has proved it isn't him, otherwise we really have absolutely had it.

I voted no, it would take a big change in philosophy. If he persists in concentrating too much on restricting the opposition then I can’t see anything changing, no matter what personnel we have.

oh my god that’s a tough one to call. I mean I have seen nothing to suggest he can change full stop so far. That could be because the players he has at the club, he does not trust them to be more open and to take risks in order to go for wins. That said and our first point of the season and new signings giving the place a lift. The possible removal of the sixth defender and a more forward thinking DCM could change the whole dynamic of the current system. We now have pace in the squad so will he use it, mix up the styles or keep us pragmatic and build slowly through the sections? Going to have to see what happens over the next 3 games to know if he can. Cardiff game I can’t see us changing or making a surprise to as some players are just coming back from international duty and others still out injured. 12 days enough time to get new players bedded in? I’m not so sure.
If during the next couple of game we start to see a plan start to see patterns, formation changes and subs that allow us to dictate and react to what is happening then I would think he can. So I will opt not to vote until I have enough to pick a side of the fence.

I hope so! Got to give him a chance to try. He does need to be more positive though. He needs some time to work with the new players. I'd personally be giving him till Christmas.
I was speaking with a Norwich season ticket holder at the weekend. There were alot of fans criticising Farquer when they finished 14th(?) the season before they went up. They stuck with him and were good the following year. Problem is that he made a better start to the season they went up and had better players. I hate the negativity of his play but we have to stick with someone at some point (obviously within reason). He does have more attacking option so let's give him the chance to turn it around. Hopefully onwards and upwards!

That might help... It's 5 games late (or a year) and 14 dollars (points) short. (Many of these signings might have made a difference and picked up some points from those 4-5 games.). But it is what it is. They're here now. That's what counts. Now he's actually got something to work with. Who knows. More chance than with him not having his own players. Hughton's a safe pair of hands. He'll make a fist of it. Could have done with that striker but our West Ham signing might be that 'Antonio' factor at this level. Sure. 'Yes.' We're a win from our top of the bottom 8 from last year. A couple from mid-table. SA.

(Norwich had the patience to stick with him and he was starting from a higher base. If Hughton had that to begin with? Forest wouldn't have finished top of the bottom 8 last year.) SA.

The next 2 home games after the break are huge, both winnable. Lose them both and I can only see trouble. 3 wins in 21 championship games does not make good reading.
Can he be more expansive now? I'm not so sure, his system is his system, he will not change it now. I'd be shocked if he did, I hope to be shocked. One thing we do have is more pace and athleticism in the team so let's hope we can play on the front foot a bit and utilise it. He will have options off the bench as he did last year, will he make changes earlier in games when things are not going our way or to plan? Again it is something that all fan bases have been critical of so I am not so sure. For those reasons I think it is only a matter of time. When you lose a fan base like he has, it's along way back, especially with the noises in the crowd evident. Fingers crossed for 6 points when we return going in to Huddersfield away.

Expansive football needs expansive (and expensive) players? It's a different set of players now. It's this season. It's 1 point from 5. Not great. But there weren't 8 new players (or Worrall) available to Hughton in the 1st four games. So I'm more interested in this season's stats with Hughton's own team of players from 'here on in.' SA.

If they're the 'right' pieces of the puzzle. SA.

What is this thing about giving managers until Christmas? Like it's some kind of magic date and if you're still bottom of the league at Christmas and then you sack your manager you'll be fine. Guess what, chances are you wont.
Season - Bottom at Christmas - Relegated? 2010/11 - PNE - Yes 2011/12 - Cov - Yes 2012/13 - P'Boro - Yes 2013/14 - Barnsley - Yes 2014/15 - B'Pool - Yes 2015/16 - Bolton - Yes 2016/17 - R'Ham - Yes 2017/18 - Brum - No 2018/19 - Ipswich - Yes 2019/20 - Stoke -No 2020/21 - Wycombe - Yes So that's 9 out of the last 11 seasons that the team who was bottom at Christmas went on to get relegated. It's too late to make the change. |
