Player Suggestions For The 2021 Summer Transfer Window

Im at the point with Johnson where if he isnt going to sign a contract that protects the club's investment in him then he needs to be escorted to the door. He's not the next Ronaldo even if his dad thinks he is.  We'll get by without him and he'll be free to go amd play for Brentford reserves. No one player is bigger than the club especially one that to date has only put in a handful of questionable performances in for it.

As hinted at by someone else, I'm sure once the window closes and he hasn't got the option of a move it'll be easier to get the contract signed. He'd only be losing himself income at that point

Or he'll be 1 step closer to forcing a move away from the club...

Surely, if the window is closed he physically couldn't move so aside from having one less week on his contract I'm not sure how that would be the case?

Say he's on around 5-10k now and a new contract would be 3 times that (I don't know what the going rate is). For the next three months he'd be down a few 100k theoretically. Probably gives us a little more leverage if anything. He's still got 2 years left too not one so there is no major rush. I'm confident it'll be sorted during the international break.

It means that he's down to 18 months left on his contract in Jan, which is the next time we can sell him thus probably reducing what we could possibly get. If he/his dad is thinking long term, that couple of 100k could be relatively insignificant. Yeah I see what you're saying but there is four months until that window! Plenty of time for negotiation, the main thing is hopefully the window closing removes the distraction and temptation.

But do they want to stay, pick up the decent money and then dictate the favourable terms on which they then leave in the future?  In my book you earn the right to dictate those kinds of things when you've proved your worth on the pitch. And especially not when you've not made one iota of an impression on the first team at any stage in your short career. It's not like he's Rooney leaving Everton to go to Man Utd.

Thought I'd look into the potential LBs we could sign using Widdow's hint about their club still being in Europa qualification and also applying Dane's no over 26s and the Brexit work permit rules, here are the names I've come up with:

1. Calvin Bassey, Rangers, 21 - Seems like he's making a play to be Rangers' starting LB this season so probably unlikely.
2. Max Ullmann, Rapid Vienna, 25 - Also seems to be Vienna's first choice LB but out of contract next summer. (would be touch and go on the Work Permit)
3. Owen Wijndal, AZ Alkmaar, 21 - Massive longshot, really highly rated over 100 league games and a Dutch international so very unlikely, currently injured.
4. Maxim Gullit, AZ Alkmaar, 20 - Joined up with the first team for this season, may want to keep him with Wijndal injured. Out of contract next summer.
5. Boli Bolingoli, Celtic, 26 - Spent last season on loan in Turkey but picked up a knee injury, seems surplus at Celtic.
6. Greg Taylor, Celtic, 23 - Celtic's first choice LB, can't see him leaving unless it's for good money.
7. Adam Montgomery, Celtic, 19 - Another who has joined the first team this season, played a few minutes here and there this season.
8. Oscar Dorley, Slavia Prague, 23 - Seems to be their first choice LB, may struggle to get a work permit but being a full international and playing Europa might help.
9. Amadou Dante, Sturm Graz, 20 - Another who seems to be first choice LB and may struggle for a work permit.

They're the most logical ones, so it's probably none of them!
