It takes two to tango.
As reported on Brennan, they've agreed a salary, but can't agree on length of contract and minimum fee. David Johnson started crying when I challenged his pathetic valuation theory on twitter, looks like he wants to have his cake and eat it.

Would you be tempted to cash in on Johnson SSM if a decent offer came in this week?
I would.

No. I think reason will come to the fore once the window is closed. Ultimately, whilst DJ isn't happy that Brennan can't have an easy escape route favourable to him in the current offer, once the window is closed, his son is losing out on thousands of pounds a week he could and should be earning in a new deal.

Interesting. So DJ wants Brennan to have an 'out' if a eg. Premier club comes in with a bid for £x amount? Johnno his son's agent then?
We'll see if they blink. Brennan hasn't got off to a blazing start in the championship. He's been anonymous so far. Maybe the contract stuff is distracting. Maybe Rogers made him look good in League 1. Perhaps the step up to the Championship is a large sandwich to digest.

Morgan Roger's was only at Lincoln in the second half of the season. Johnno was on fire long before that. They got the ball to him in the right areas and quickly giving him more space to operate in. Our current labouredboured slow approach takes takes all of that away from the front 4 as a whole. I've watched him very carefully so far and he picks up some quality positions in between the lines we just cannot get the ball in to him right now. We do not even try to be fair were intent on passing sideways and backwards to our full backs.
Johnno is a fall guy for those tactics. I'm hoping garner will help him flourish, he will find him quickly in the current intelligent positions he picks up and we will see far more of his ability in running at centre backs and full backs.

To help a player like Johnno thrive you need a player from deeper in CM who can switch play in an expansive way. Garner!
Just as we saw that Car' appreciates the 'next level' intricacy afforded by Zinc Man v Bradford.
I guess both players will get more chances to see what they can do with a ball player in CM to help pick them out.
Your right about Forest being pedestrian in that area. But it has been a problem long before Hughton rocked up. See Malta Red's endless complaints about the CM area. He's the one person that has gone on about it more than me. :P
Did you say we had fullbacks? ;) (Not saying we'll have Christie. But I noticed Hughton had him on a high line and he had some decent play higher up the pitch last season with some nice interplay. Garner alone won't be enough, however it's a massive step forward but we know we need more in.)

He's only played 3 games ffs, everyone wanted young players in but then some suddenly expect them to be amazing straight away. Just give them a chance to fail and learn. Everyone saying we should pick Fornah etc but then immediately writing off Johnson.
(I'm not saying this is all fans of course, just a few have been demanding he be dropped already)

The young players like Johnson clearly need seasoned quality around them. We can't get them in fast enough. It's been very damaging. The Stoke goal yesterday went from full back to full back area then crossed in...goal.
The next week for the transfer window is make or break for Forest's season. And probably for Hughton (rightly or WRONGLY.)

Did anyone else enjoy Brennan knocking the ball down the wing yesterday and taking the defender on for pace? Havent seen a forest player do that for many a year. The lads got talent thats for sure. Hopefully Garner will assist his game now.

Jonno snr needs to just get the contract signed. When have forest even stood in the way of a youngster moving to the prem? If his lad is good enough he'll get his chance to move up. Hes still got his whole career in front if him. He needs to get his head down, learn his trade with us and then step up. Dont do an Ince and grab the cash and then not deliver.
