It's a whole raft of errors and success stories that span over many different people and times that lead to this point. I can't and won't blame a single sole. We win as a team and loss as a team and the fans are also part of that as well.

+1
+2 but I'm finding it inexcusable that players were being allowed to leave the club without adequate replacements. Even worse, players like Jenkinson, Arter and Bong are still employed by the club but not available to play. What's that all about? Someone should be made to own those decisions as it's looking like a completely clueless decision atm. We've gone cold turkey on the under 26 approach. We could easily have phased that approach in whilst keeping the squad competitive.
Murphy needs to get up to speed because the job he's in is a million times more difficult that the one he's just left.

Neither Dane Murphy or Chris Hughton are to blame for the current debacle.
As Nick Randall said in his recent BBC interview, we are onto plan B as plan A didn’t work.
I guess plan A was to get a proven manager (Karanka) let him spend a lot of ££ and get would get us up in 2 yrs.
Buying Carv for 13m was a grave error and one could argue wreckless at best, and that amortised cost is still heavily trying us down. Also buying players who have got promoted and hoping they can replicate that, whilst giving them big contracts was never sustainable.
So we are now in a position where we are re-setting.
Get rid of the belly fat in the squad, reduce the age, increase the hunger, and have a reduced wage bill.
This was never going to be seamless, and will prob be another 12 months with Grabban, Taylor, Arter, Jenko and Bong off the wage bill.
I believe that long run we will benefit, but we are going to suffer this year.
Unfortunately Hughton isn’t the right manager for plan B IMO.
I think we need to make the change now before we waste another 5 games.

And as I have said on a few occasions Murphy’s approach (or Barnsley’s approach to be fair as it predated him) very very nearly took Barnsley down season before last.
That is NOT me saying I want him gone or that I dont agree with what he is trying to do , just that it carries its own risks and we need to be in for the long haul. And yes it is a bigger job than the one he has left, picking up a few young freebies isnt going to help in our situation.

If we knew that we really should have pulled the trigger on CH 3 months ago. Someone is to blame for delaying that decision.

I don’t think we would be having this debate if we had lost two of our 3 best centre halves by half time of the first league match. Although I’ll admit they knew LB was a main priority and haven’t done enough to get it sorted, so again is it because we haven’t got enough money so are low balling to have an excuse when clubs don’t deal with us?

Yep. And if they had gone down, which in 9 out of 10 seasons they would've done, would he be our CEO now? I doubt it. I'm praying he's is one of these talented young guys who cant do a thing wrong. I'm worried that he's just a good talker who got lucky and who is now completely out of his depth.

I agree, if it wasn’t for Forest capitulating Barnsley would have got relegated.
Brentford and Swansea are more models we should look before Barnsley.
An attractive football philosophy, bright young coach, good recruitment

Or clever. Brand new CEO comes into a club who already have a well respected manager amongst the majority of the fan base, his first action is to sack that manager, he gets instant backlash because that manager is so well respected, even more so if the season then starts badly under a new guy.
Instead the new CEO waits 4/5 games, if the well respected manager gets off to a good start then fair enough, he can stay the extra season and see out his contract, it's a season of transition anyway... but if he starts the season really badly (coming into it off the back of poor form at the end of last season) then gets sacked, the CEO might find he has the majority of supporters on his side just by waiting those 4/5 games.

Sorry thats too deep a conspiracy for me. By delaying the decision (which sadly I think is coming sooner or later) we are wrecking the current season. At least the new manager would have stood a chance if he had a full season to deliver.

Great post mate, I see it that way too and I've never wanted Hughton in charge. He was damned if he did and now damned because he didnt.

I think Reds73 makes some very good points and I also agree if this is indeed the case then CH needs to go sooner rather then later so that we can completely re-set.
