According to Alan Nixon, Ansarifard's work permit needs an appeal, which may not be approved, hence the delay.

He's going to be in a pretty poor position if it doesn't get approved, though I suppose he could still move somewhere outside the UK.

Also, I'm surprised we allowed ourselves to get into this situation, presuming it's true of course. I'd have thought that we'd have considered that he might not get work permit approval. Although I must admit, as I understand the rules I thought he would have done by virtue of the number of games he's played for Iran.

You know what...I am starting to think that perhaps one or two other clubs have made complainst to the EFL about the way we have done some of our business. Particularly I am talking about Kapino, Tachtsidis and Ansarifard all signing for the club when the windows at the time were closed.

Hope I am wrong on this, it's just a thought that I have had, it's not ITK stuff.

It's quite believable. I mean, though it's technically not against the rules it is a bit questionable. However, if that were the case surely there would have been a similar issue around the signing of Tachtsidis - yet that one seemed to go through without a hitch.

Which makes me wonder if it is more work permit related.

I think there might be a clue tonight.

If Tachtsidis plays tonight then it probably is work permit related.

If Tachtsidis is not in the squad though, then it's probably something else.

its almost October. we might as well just wait until January transfer window for another striker at this rate.

That is why I think it may be something else.

There is absolutely no reason not to get a work permit.

He's played in all Irans games, he must have already had permission to work in an EEA country because he worked in Greece plus he's married to an EEA national. It just doesn't add up.

I noticed on his Wikipedia that his previous club Panionios were meant to be entitled to 10% of his next transfer fee.

Could they be kicking up a fuss about this I wonder? With them having missed out on some money because of his contract being cancelled?

Well spotted SR, I hadn't realised that.

I doubt Panionios would have the balls to take that any further but you never know.

to be honest if we really wanted this guy during the summer shouldn't this have been tied up much quicker than leaving it after the window shut. we had other targets and failed to land.
