On this day in 1st July 1999 David Platt was appointed Nottingham Forest manager.

I honestly don't think he was that bad. Just look at some of the rubbish we have had since.

Also on the same day in 2014 seven years ago today, Stuart Pearce was appointed as Nottingham Forest manager.

Platt wasnt that bad, we have had far worse since, think it was the expectation placed on him and he spent a ton of money too. Most of his signings were decent players (the odd exception ahem) but they didnt gel at all and we needed the loans of Ian Wright, who was brilliant and a young John Terry to stop us hurtling towards the bottom.

What I find unfathomable to this day is why the owners back then backed Platt so heavily in the old 1st div. but had decimated Harry Bassets squad and given him £2.50 to spend when we were in the Premier.
