Well, it's hardly surprising that the players he didn't bring in don't want to be there. Too many journey men players and players who're past their best.
As Worrall noted. We have players who don't run enough. And it was obvious 1st half.
And we have one striker here who outlived 3 managers. And one defender who's been here under those managers.
Point? We can't stop goals and we can't score them either.
Qualifier. Norwich outclassed us. Miles ahead.

Quite rightly, Hughton targeted the Reading game with the best available line up. It almost paid off but at least we got a point. Resting players against Norwich made more sense than resting them against Reading. Norwich are a class above and it was always going to be a tough game to come away with anything.

Can the likes of McGuane, Swan, Johnson, Fornah and Gabriel regularly be involved in our match day squad next season.
Are they good enough to be involved if we want to be challenging at the top end. Really interested to get some opinions on this.

McGuane and Johnson if they are to have a future here under CH then they need to be involved are a good age to be making appearances for the first team.

It's a good question. It would certainly make Hughton's job easier if they are good enough. Can Gabriel be relied upon injury wise? I am not convinced.

Surely Johnson is the closest to the first team. Already had a few appearances under Sabri, and has been doing well on loan at a team towards the top of League One.
Swan looked raw, as did Gabriel.
I haven’t seen Fornah to be able to comment.
McGuane is out for months with injury.

Added to the above is the Alex Mighten dilemma. Unpopular opinion possibly but I would loan him to L1 next year. He should have been loaned this season really given his involvement, I think it has probably set back his development. He desperately needs more time on the pitch playing competitively and Im not convinced he will het it here even next season.

To be honest SM if it was my choice I would promote Mighten and not bring back Knockaert next season.

Due to Hughton’s negative play there was nothing to play for this season and still he doesn’t play youth.
Take away his excuse of missing 4 matches and only having a top half squad, and EM expecting a promotion push, there’s no chance he’ll develop youth next season.
Wrong manager for that.

Unpopular - but, if we have to unload someone in the Summer in order to balance the books, I would sell Mighten.

Totally agree I can see him bringing in a few of his old cronies and ignoring our own younger players, hopefully this won't be the case and he will mix it up a little, but going on what he has done elsewhere I can't see that happening with him.
