Have to agree there with you Sniffer. I can't really see why either Grabban or Ribeiro were selected last night unless CH wanted to confirm finally that they have no future with us. I like both and they have served us well but I'd much rather have seen Taylor if Murray needed a rest and Blackett who has a presence in the air. The summer of course will invite changes but I suspect CH is confident of survival now and so is able to be strategic in his selections.

Good point mate about Blackett having a presence in the air. If Bongy needed a rest I'd sooner Blackett play than Ribeiro.

It was very encouraging though, a very good performance. Cafu is starting to look like a very shrewd signing so hats off to whoever was responsible for that one.

Unpopular opinion, I though both full backs did pretty well last night, the goal was just a damn good header, Roberts would have outjumped any of our defenders. What evidence do you have for Blackett being better?

With you on Grabban, I am one of his biggest supporters but losing patience. But again I have seen nothing from Taylor to suggest he is an improvement.

Blackett is taller and has played many games at CB as well as LB. Like the Swansea commentator said Roberts had no right to win that ball. But he did. It's not the first time SM, opposition teams target it. There was a time when I thought Ribeiro was fairly decent but this season he's been dreadful like Grabban.

I think our new singings have done well. Cafu looking like a good addition, Knockaert, Garner and Krovinovic all looking good. In my opinion we are being let down a bit by some of our older signings the likes of Grabban, Ribeiro and even Lolley. These players go back to when Karanka was in charge.

Really pleased with the performance tonight, despite the result. We look miles better than a few months ago. As a another couple of people on here have said, I am really looking forward to next season with a few more Hughton additions and some dead wood shipped out, we really should be strong. Mind, we would have to keep the likes of Worrall and that will be hard to do.

i think Grabban did a huge amount of awesome work and is by far the best fit for the system deployed last night, the 3 on 2 situation, well, tragic, the cut backs and shot could of been another 3, but for me he made the system work, he seemed to be organising the press and high line very effectively

Ribs besides that moment had cracking game, a battling livewire, he was right under a cross, which was perfectly flighted so there player could run at it with momentum and take a hop, skip and a jump at it

Just prior to conceding the goal, our fella's had a mix up and played off one another somehow conceding the throw, an unforced error at the end of spell where we had taken over complete control of the game

It cudda and shudda been 4 nowt to us, depends now how they all react, hopefully becomes the launching stage for a strong run in

£10 well spent

Grabban's main job is to put the ball in the onion bag. He can work do all the work he wants but when guilt head chances come his way he needs to take them. In previous seasons he's done that this season he hasn't done it. Taylor is our top scorer despite limited chances and he hasn't been given a chance yet with the likes of Krovinovic and Garner in the team.

Got to echo some of the sentiments already posted. Doesn't feel like a defeat this morning, because of the clear signs of progression which we continue to be making.

All I can say is thank God Hughton got his choice of players in Jan, and he wasn't lumbered with more dross from Modesto & co.

If EM can find a way to back Hughton without selling our better players like Worral in the Summer, then we're going places.

Just a damn shame that the club has made so many awful buys previously, which in turn will likely mean we're gonna be restricted to what we can spend unless we see some deadwood shifted, and some fees coming in.

Agree Alf, in cold light of day a good performance. The goal wasn't the greatest but Ribs had a really good game overall and was let down by Krovinivic a tad.  Don't think I've seen much mentioned about Lolleys decent showing. Not quite vintage Lolley but certainly looks to be getting back to form. 

So long as we build on it at the weekend-lots to be pleased about.

Roberts was flying to head that ball and had all the momentum. For me the cross should've been blocked in the first place but that was the only fault on the night from Christie, who I thought had a decent game otherwise. 

Re Grabban, he really does need to be in the box more now. The trouble is, he's never really been a decent finisher. When he has chance to think about a chance he usually misses. That why his penalty record is so poor imo and it was no suprise he fluffed the chance when put through. Under Sabri, the system played to his strengths (or he made the system a success maybe) . Now there's chances being created in the six yard box, crosses going in and we're being more progressive, we need more of a natural box finisher. While I agree that Taylor has been poor imo, I think he is much more suited in that role in this team and might be worth a chance ahead of Grabban. Cant see it happening though to be honest.

Sorry Pap - I have to disagree.
In particular Christie was poor - his first touch, on so many occasions, was dreadful.
