Zico- I used to sit on the girder at the back of the Trent end as a kid - brilliant view and that free kick is etched in my memory as it was like an exorcet missile heading straight to my head if it wasn’t for the goal and net... I rate it better than Lewis mcgugans

Great days. Until about 88 I used to go in about 1.30 to get a crate to stand on in front of a barrier. Then I moved further back to be in amongst it, but was able to get served so piled in about 2.30...then I later discovered if you stood on Bridgford ona warm dry day you could stay in the pub until 2.58 and still get your spot. Happy days indeed. Youngsters today will never understand the level of camaraderie generated on the terraces.

That is so true about the camaraderie on the terraces Zico. I've been pulled out of scraps and hauled over the Trent End wall on a couple of occasions. The crowd used to open up to let you in, then close ranks around you so the coppers couldnt find you (so Ive been told anyway  :blush: )

First leg was even better. Stopped the bus just outside Leeds to watch highlights on TV - very understanding licensee ( who made a few quid that night ).

It was TPL. I was just a kid and I went with my dad in the car and we sat in the seats at the side of where the Forest fans were standing. I am desperate for some footage of this night but I can't find any.

35 years ago today 18/1/1986. Nigel Clough headed in a late winner as Nottingham Forest came from behind to win 3-2 against Manchester United at Old Trafford. Colin Walsh scored Forest's other 2 goals.

I remember Clough sides putting Man U to the sword.  And on their own back yard.

Nigel Clough.  What a Talisman he was for Clough's Silver Generation.  He was also my favourite Forest player at the time.  :)

I remember young Nigel leading the line against L*verpool when Forest battered them on chances at the City Ground.  (Still had some standing before they finally went all seater.). Went 1-0 up.  Before that goal hanger of 'pool's made it 1-1.  (I can still see him burying it in my mind.  I was facing it, slightly to the left. He got the ball. And seemed to just slot it in. Goal. Bah.  Rush was it? Gdm annoying.)

You couldn't make it up.  Forest swept them aside that night on footballing principles. Battered they were that night.

Just the sound of the Forest crowd every time Forest had a chance.
