We were a club right up to the late 70's, early 80's when Wray and co bought the club out?

I've been trying to forget that period myself. Bad owners. Club sold-out by greedy little men.

Its a good memory jolt for the EM Out brigade or those too young to remember. Wray and Scholar could have had it all, they got lucky inherited a club with a decent team and a manager in Harry Bassett who knew what he was doing but got greedy and messed it all up. You look at them and also the former Charlton CEO who is sniffing at the sheep, you realise its not necessarily “dodgy foreigners” who are bad owners.
Thats why I want EM to succeed and I hope he will, he could just do with a different approach sometimes and maybe learning a lesson or two.

Couldn't agree with you more SM. Harry Bassett was treated cruelly and we were betrayed by Scholar and his very dodgy mates. Their sale of Kevin Campbell and the subsequent destruction of our fine time was, for me, the single worst and illogical decision at Forest. There have been a few others but that one stank.

the club did a trick in around 1997 ish, 'converting' the clubs equity into shares, i know alot of fans bought in, including my dad, not sure what the share price was but i guess at least £1 a share, around 2002 i bought 100,000 ish shares for 10p each but administration and alot of non transparent stuff going on made my £10,000 worth of shares worthless.
i still like the idea of fans buying into the clubs, for the whole club or even a stand or the training facilities or a club shop, so the specific assett is paid for and can't be remortgaged and they always have at least the bricks and mortar/land value and some potential for good things to happen but ideally with football clubs it would be good if they weren't ltd companies, not charities but somewhere inbetween, as in the fans investments are safeguarded and could make a return in good times but not become worthless in bad, badly run times. Whatever happened in the late 90's could do with a book writing about it, the main flaw back then was that having shares in a club that doesn't own the ground is likely to go wrong and it did I'm assuming Mr Marinakis has ownership of the ground now, which wasn't the case back then, and when he gets planning permission it could get really interesting for him
