Yes the injury stopped the game but it wasn't be the reason we got a win. There were only 2 minutes left at that point and we'd managed to cope for a much longer period than that beforehand so let's be fair, our back five was set, tight and looking good up to the time of the injury. Blacket should've been introduced much earlier to protect Bong. I don't know why it didn't happen earlier as the threat was there. Until Blackett came on Da costa was banging in real quality crosses into the box. With Blackett there his crossing was much more speculative and of lower quality.
At the end we had Colback, Blackett, Freeman and Murray on the pitch, most of which havent kicked a ball in anger for quite a while. Brave move by CH imo but he clearly feels he can trust them all. I'm pleased he thinks that about Freeman because I really do think he can contribute if he can get fit.

Blackett sub was good management and helped stem the tide down the left and bong actually did ok covering the inside left channel on three different occasions.

I thought it reassuring that CH felt he could take Krov off for Blackett and as such demonstrate that he had the confidence in the players to be able to shut up shop. Our second half performance was one of those that really gives a side confidence. The players know they can rely on their mates and they're all in it together. Nightmare for us to watch though.

I thought Bong was fine last night. I suspect that the criticisms of players like him are borne from a dislike of the player as a signing generally, rather than what they are actually doing on the pitch.

I agree the Blackett sub was good management. CH brought him on specifically to do a man marking job and Da Costa had much less influence down the right afterwards so it worked. It wasn’t Bong’s job to counter the opposition full back, so I don’t understand why he’s especially relevant, other than he did a sterling job against their inside right.

I hope Bong keeps his place now that he's found his feet. His crossing and his heading are so much better than Ribeiro.

I said a week or so ago if he shows any aptitude at all in these next few days Bong might be Hughtons first choice for a while.

Good read from the manager imo.
Colback did his job. Harassed players. Thought he was unlucky to get booked as it was Figs who grabbed hold of the man and the ref booked Colback?
Agree with both these points

Christie stood to far off his man, even though he should of known Figs was there to back him up
Figs is giving 1000%, i really think if you can't give a player any credit then why keep criticising?
Early in the game Wozza conceded a soft, dangerous free kick and if it had been Figgy would of been crucified, as also allowed Coventry in also early in the game, they went very close , maybe scored offside can't remember
All i know is Figgy, despite being sandwiched stopped there big fella's getting onto anything
He played a really good pass, might of been early in the move for the very early 'tap in' {needed a lung not forthcoming] from Christies cross for Grabbs
Figs loses about 3 pints of blood and a few limbs every game and still gets back up
considering personnell and injuries, Figgy and Wozza is as good as it will get, just pray they BOTH stay fit, lift the curses!
Sorry for mentioning him, again, but would you prefer he got injured? No, I didn't think so.
Grabbs is an exceptionally good fit, class above the other options there.
Brice Samba could be worth £20m the way he's going, that was the ultimate display of dominating an area and supersedes athleticism from previous best performances, distribution also very good and we can all breathe as he hugs the ball on the ground as if it were a little baby
Excellent post.

Defensively he seems ok (I would say on a par with Figs) but more for the fact he seems to want to pass forward better and more importantly for me, he is a threat in the opposition box, he has proven that in the few minutes he's been given. We get plenty of corners and free kicks around the area etc but the quality of our movement, strength and heading ability is really quite poor. Would be a very good string to add to our bow in my opinion.
I think Soh has what it takes to be our RB; physical and technical enough, and will learn 1st team football in the Championship so that he is ready to either replace Worrall in the summer or mean we don't need to sign a new RB.
