The lad played 64 minutes tonight in Iran’s 1-0 win. Didn’t add to his international goal tally before being subbed.

And I respect your opinion NG3. Personally I was disappointed not to hold on to him - but he was poor last season & was unlikely to contribute this season.
PS he is some way from being the best of his age ( imho of course )

Inconsistent, inexperienced and being asked to do a difficult job in an underperforming team - yes. Just 'crap' - no.
Anyway, wonder when we'll see Ansarifard announced? Presumably he'll be en route to the UK now that Iran's friendly is done.

The problem is the players we're searching and reaching for are a high level but often 'not fit' because not good enough for the 1st teams of the higher level. So getting them up to speed and injury free are issues that should flatten out over time. And, not my 'ten games' and thou shalt be judged kind of time. I fully expect Marinakos to embrace Forest's world wide brand, invest in the Academy (it's had a great return on investment so far!) and make Forest competitive in time. All the signs are there off and on the pitch following an unprecedented investment in players in modern Forest era. When...(!) it clicks...it will be rocket time. Just got to stick with the 'plan' for two to three years. SA. £8.5 million off the £22-25 million spent? (For Bre' and Mackay...) Has allowed 'just' £13-£15 million spent on a complete squad overhaul of 26-27 players in two windows! Sometimes you need to 'Shake the bag' as Billy used to say... SA.
Come on Jock, thats a bit extreme isnt it? And Im not taking digs at academy players either. However, in my opinion last season, Brereton was pretty dire. Almost every attack was breaking down when the ball got to him. No one was asking him to do anything a proffessional footballer shouldnt be able to do. But when he was unable to control the ball or hold it up for a short while, then one really has to ask questions about his potential. To get offered 6M for him in my book was one we couldnt turn down and as people have pointed out, it seems he wanted out also. Now we have a good changing room apparently and it only take one bad apple to bring it down. So, all in all, his desire to leave and a very generous offer would seem to make it a good sell in my book.
Once again with the imminent signing of Ansarifard, we look to have improved on what we had. SO when we actually have 6M coming our way also it look to have been a very good piece of business. SA, thats the point. The academy will serve two purposes I hope. To prioduce and to help balance the books. It HAS to provide good young talent, no point in its exitance otherwise. But fans have to accept that for a club our size and with the rules of FFP having to be observed, we will have to sell sometimes. We have to wheel and deal because we simply dont have the income to constantly throw caution to the wind and buy, buy, buy. Had Brereton shown a good attitude and developed in any way, Im absolutely sure he would be still with us right now and with a long term contract offer under his nose.

Karanka should be very grateful to Ben Brereton.
Brereton had the balls to step up and take that penalty in the last minute against Ipswich which ended a six and a half game goal drought. If that goal drought had gone to seven games I think Karanka would have been gone. Marinakis had his finger on the trigger. Brereton saved his job.
