What Is The Clubs Transfer Strategy
Unfortunately I don’t believe the current ownership knows any better than just throwing money at it. 70+ players in 3 years and we are no better off than when they took over.

We didn’t need to sign all those players in the summer but we did. This is the reason we are where we are now. We don’t need to sign 4 or 5 players in January but I have no doubt we will throw money at it again.

The current owner has done so much right off the pitch but is getting it terribly wrong on the football side. I want to see a change in approach. I want them to learn but I fear they won’t. I will happily give them January and the summer to show they have learnt and will listen to CH but if nothing changes then it’s either they go or we stagnate for many more years occasionally flirting with relegation occasionally sitting in the middle.
Sorry for being so negative

So who is charge then of transfers? Is it the manager, Brazil or Modesto? It’s about time we had a strategic transfer strategy.

Who is the owner listening too, surely he to can see performances on the pitch and another summer of bringing in lot of deadwood has put us at the wrong end of the table and pushing back any dreams of promotion. Let’s hope he is watching games (I am being presumptuous that he does).

Hughton such a nice guy, but it is time he stood up and actually make major efforts to bring in player that he wants, he must now the strengths and weaknesses of the squad and which areas need improving (it’s not rocket science). .

He did that with Knockeart and now needs to follow that up but at the same time he needs to think long term (which is difficult for any forest manager) and get players like Whiteman, Mowatt both experienced and have best years ahead of them. One worry with that is he will only be interested in older players and add to future deadwood, and bring in likes of Glenn Murray

We are doing ok, but one defeat away from another catastrophe and so close to bottom 3

And now lose out on players like Whiteman to the likes of Preston. Was there real interest, can’t be if not put in a bid? Or is it a case club listening to Modesto again rather than Brazil.

The likes of Whiteman would be an investment, we tend to focus on players looking for last pay day and have no resale value and that is shocking for long term FFP

Like the summer, we still lack pace, creativity and of course goals. Our midfield is non existent and our defenders win the ball only to pass it back to the opposition to give them another drive at us.

I agree we need to lighten the squad, but the owners should see that and realise that is of their own making and must reconsider our they go forward, as one thing is quite clear we have not got a transfer strategy and it’s killing us.

At the same time, Lot of bargains to be had this January (compared to other winter windows), great potential with the right investment could reap big rewards, so we should be taking advantage, and start building for now and for next season, and not letter other clubs to take advantage.

Lest not forget, whichever way you look at with all the loans, players end of contract in the summer going to be another big turnaround in the summer, so let’s get ahead start now!

Just read the Athletic article by both Taylors. To be honest if you read the whole thing I thought Modesto comes out of it pretty well. A lot of praise for the work with Olympiakos although talks about the conflict of interest. A bit of sensationalist stuff about a bizarre 70 player shortlist in 2019 but he is talked about as likeable and intelligent person with links to find players from Europe. Some of Olys best signings come from Pierre Issa who has Bachirou on his books so that one now makes sense.

If Gary Brazil leads on domestic recruitment and Modesto in European with the manager having a veto in both situations I dont have a problem with that set up. As I have been saying for a long time what is needed most is long term plan to knit it all together

Errr Pierre Issa left Olympiakos a while ago. Bachirou was nothing to do with him. He was a Lamouchi signing.

I thought the main issue perhaps is that he has competing priorities and it isn't clear how those are being managed. Perhaps it would be better to separate the roles between Forest and Olympiacos to avoid competing interests.

Correct, and that was mentioned. He subsequently set up his own football agency, Play Eleven, and has maintained close ties with Modesto.

This was evident, for example, when Forest made Bachirou, a 30-year-old defensive midfielder from Malmo, the first of their 14 signings before the new season. Bachirou, one of Issa’s clients,

So smacks more of a Modesto signing than a Sabri one, however you want them to spin it.

Go on then Sniff.

I’ll buy it.

Explain why he was a Lamouchi signing - and not Modesto.

Or however you want to spin it  :)

Lets just keep beating the club at every opportunity we get despite not knowing the facts.

No one will never know the full facts apart from those involved. Some big Facts thought, there ISSA and agent of Fred and others we have signed. No smoke....

Only facts we have got is the results and success of players brought in.

Whichever where you want to spin that, its simply not good enough.

I have been steadfast now saying we need a Transfer Strategy, yet still seems to be no direction. Its not knocking the club, its the truth.

Who’s ‘beating up the club’ this time Sniff?

Stop being so defensive.

Where is all this coming from today?

What’s happened now?

^ genuine questions ^

Not you, the club making out Bachirou was a Sabri signing, when far more likely Modesto working with Issa.

Same as we all got told in the Summer, Guerrero was a Sabri signing but it came out he was pushed on to him by the owner, and after being offered 3 times felt he had to accept when was getting no one else upfront.

Have you got facts to prove it another way, always willing to listen

And my facts are, look where we are in table and what have we achieved in 3 years.
