This is further commitment to getting Forest back to the elite echelons.

SA.

Although having said that, the dropping of the Nigel Doughty Academy won’t go down well with a lot of folk.

When was that announced Red?

Absolutely zero reason to change name ( imho ).

It’s not been announced, but if your look at the designs, they are naming the new academy buildings, the Nottingham Forest Academy

Saw that Red - not sure we can read anything into that.

That could just be down to the architects having zero knowledge about football or the clients they are working for. Maybe the club or architect who sat down with the club to take the brief didn't bother to tell the draughtsperson of the finer detail

Well when they took over they wanted to drop the ‘Nigel Doughty academy’ but they were advised not too as it would have been a big OG.

So it wouldn’t surprise me

I have great respect for Nigel but changing the name of our Academy to the Nottingham Forest Academy wouldn't bother me at all. We are Nottingham Forest FC, we are not Nigel Doughty FC. I am sure one of the buildings could be names after Nigel instead of the whole Academy.

This is a good idea Mad!

I tend to agree with that. There should be some form of acknowledgment to Nigel absolutely but if EM’s investment in the academy allows us to become Cat 1 then to be honest he has every right to call it the Marinakis Academy if he wishes.

In which it follows that - at some stage - we can drop the names Clough & Taylor from the ground?

Surely the same thing?

Can’t agree I’m afraid.

I doubt it TPL, its one thing naming your training ground after a former owner (good bloke that he was), quite another renaming your home stadium particularly one that is synonymous with the greatest manager ever to grace the game.
