I think we have a top half squad, so can one of the Believers tell me 12 clubs who have a better squad than we do?
Not sure how you can watch the last few months and think we have a top half squad. However even if that is true we're 11 points off that, given we started with 4 losses, sounds like mid table form since then, or not far off.
Fundamentally, I think we are underperforming compared to the assets in our squad. And I think the manager is contributing to it.
Under Hughton we have 1.06 ppg, so it’s definitely not mid table form.
I was wondering if we might be able to discuss the level of our squad to support that discussion. So if we have a poor squad, shouldn’t it be easy to name 12 clubs with better squads?
Completely agree.

It's hardly back tracking. It was great until the realty dawned of..?
...out of favour, players don't play for a year, unfit or injured.
And let's throw that lot into no pre season, sack the guy that brought them in then install a new manager.
What could go wrong? The 1st four games for starters.
But I guess we can blame Hughton for that as well.

Currently.
I would say there are about 19 teams with better squads than us from QPR up. Maybe not bigger or more expensive maybe not so many with past promotions in their CVs and definitely if we could transport back to 2017 then ours would be pretty good. However, its 2020, so currently ours appears to be around 20th best this season and this calendar year give or take.
Maybe it is all the managers fault?
Shipping goals and missing chances during our bad runs. Giving the ball away constantly in spells, no doubt the manager is to blame for the lack of concentration in some games for individual errors.
Sorry for my sarcasm, but at some point the players and "recruitment " have to take more responsibility for where we are. In fairness the players have shown some signs across last 3 games but only baby steps.
Stoke away should show where we are and if these baby steps can keep going. I would take a point and a clean sheet for sure.
Well said.
If we pick up a point vs Stoke we'll be doing well.
It took their manager a while to get them going and to pull away to safety last season.
Sounds familiar...

Yes, we have a great squad on paper; unfortunately we do not play on paper.
We have suffered with injuries to key players this season, which has not helped; but the big problem has been the great squad players that we have, who have performed anything like great squad players.
The number of inexplicable individual errors so far this season must have cost us more points than we have actually accrued.
We aint going to move up the table until that changes.

Annoyingly I think I said we could be this seasons stoke very early on. Its certainly looking that way now.
I wish I had been miles off the mark. Zero pleasure to be gained from figuratively saying I told you so on a forum. Weren't we like 4th or 5th favourites to win the league? That's why you never see a poor bookie!!

Wow! So reading upwards thats QPR, Coventry, Birmingham, Millwall, Luton...
I’d go higher but I would have thought it’s an absolute no brainer we have better squads than those. If you think they have better squads than ours we’ll have to agree to disagree!

Currently the League Table is saying we don't. Points on the board (which has reflected performances) is the only indicator of who has the better squad ultimately. I reckon we will end up around 15th, so we will indeed have to agree to disagree. 15th best in The championship....

The table just tells you about results achieved, it doesn’t tell you the potential of the players.
At least we’re both confident we won’t be relegated.

Hindsight is a great thing. I liked our signings on paper but watching them week in week out you realise why they weren’t good enough for their former clubs. Otherwise they wouldn’t of sold them, especially those dropping down from the premier league.
CH quite obviously doesn’t have much faith past the same 14 or so players. Same team same formation almost every week.
CH is getting a lot of criticism, but the same players who were out of form for SL are still out of form now. Especially Lolley who has been found out for some time now. Recruitment clearly is an issue also.
Forest need a plan and have done for a number of years, not sure the owners have one though.

He was appointed on 5th October. It’s now 26th December. Some of you are so ridiculously impatient.

It has to be the confidence and coaching.
I mean.......even Knocky looks bloody awful now, trying too hard and losing the ball and giving it away..............
The spark has gone and all the players are now underperforming.

It's not impatience, but that's probably for another thread.
