Full-time: Charlton U23s 3-4 #NFFC Under 23s
Will Swan (2), Cafu and Yassine En-Neyah were all on target!
Line-up: Wright, Spooner, Rama, Harbottle ©, Bong, Cafu, Barnes, Gibson-Hammond, Konate, En-Neyah, Swan
Subs: Statham, Sanders, Fernandes, Dekel-Daks, Andrew
Interesting that Bong played but Ribeiro didn't.

Lovely interview with Gary Brazil in The Athletic today, his pride in the academy he has built shines through.
Lots of topics covered including current players, he believes Yates will go on to be a big star.
Ambitions for Cat 1 and the importance of playing better opposition for the U23s.
The threat posed by other Cat 1 teams and in particular Leicesters £100M development.
Some hints at frustrations of lack of continuity and stability, the problems posed different styles of play and recruitment policies not being joined up to the academy.
His vision for the future and developng a Nottingham Forest identity and style of play that permeates through the club. The importance of players wanting to come to NFFC because they can see a clear pathway.
We are very lucky to have this bloke, I hope the club continues to back him in every way.

Got to say I'm beginning to regret not renewing my Athletic subscription. There's been a few articles I wouldn't have minded reading of late, but couldn't do so.

What shone through was his pride in his job - and the satisfaction he gets both from the development of the boys coming through & his role for Nottingham Forest.

I know what you mean Pap. I toyed with not renewing but then they offered the £1 per month deal.
No brainer.

Nice to see GB getting a new role at the club and being given extra responsibilities with his domestic scouting/signings roll. Praise too for EM and GV for doing it.

I signed up to the Athletic for a £1 per month. Worth the money and some decent reading to be had on there

For far too long the club been content to sit back and say “well done Gary, isnt it marvellous all these players you are developing.” but then not doing anything further to expand the Academy or give it a central place in how the club is run. The result is that however well we have done, other local clubs are ahead of us, have a look at Leicester’s development, it is in another universe to the ND academy.
It looks like the current owners are taking it far more seriously with Garys new role and plans for cat 1 status. We can compete because as it says in the article NFFC can point to proven development pathways which will attract good prospects but dont mistake we have some catching up to do.

The club can only apply for Cat 1 status once every three years though SM mate
