Just another observation from the podcast (sorry sniff!). Taylor specifically names and singles out for criticism Modesto but not Vrentzos. Cant remember the specifics but think he was pointing the finger in terms of team selection. Please someone correct me if I am wrong on that.

I’d like to think I am balanced but it is hard when the only voice of knowledge is the opinion of a very well respected and well connected journalist and fan against a void of communication from the club. I get the fact they stay silent as a policy but this has led to a gathering of discontent at the leadership of the club. With the facts of the turnover of 70 players and 4 managers in 3 or so years; lack of progress on the redevelopment; the dramatic downturn in form and now a previously supportive journalist going off on one it is bound to cause some concern.

Honestly, I doubt that Vrentzos would even know who Diakahby was. He is the COE he's not a scout.
I am not buying that for one minute.
Also Modesto is not having much say now, that appears to have been sorted.

I can’t argue with some of the recent recruitment though - colback, arter, soh , McKenna, Christie, Taylor, knockeart, Ioannou and freeman look to be great signings on paper. Blackett not so sure.
I just don’t understand some of the others - Cafu, Guerrero, Bachirou - Diallo why?

Agreed Sniff. I think some harsh lessons may have been learnt from last season. I think the appointment of Hughton is manager is telling. I like the look of his backroom team too, both Paul Trollope and Steven Reid are very good appointments. Let them do their job and we might be on to something.

I can’t argue with some of the recent recruitment though - colback, arter, soh , McKenna, Christie, Taylor, knockeart, Ioannou and freeman look to be great signings on paper. Blackett not so sure.
I just don’t understand some of the others - Cafu, Guerrero, Bachirou - Diallo why?

Yeah thats what I dont get either but Im fed up arguing about it and just give a resigned shrug now. I would understand if they were youngsters for development and one of them comes off then great. But those guys are all over 30 and on a last pay day. Still not my money.

Why would Hughton and all those players above who all had other offers sign for a club that is in complete chaos (according to some).

But more examples of chaos:
My grandson - who has a junior season ticket ( cost circa £25 I think ) has today received an email from the club giving him a £37 retail voucher plus £37 ticket credit in lieu of the last few games being behind closed doors last season.
My wife has received similar - but for a smaller amount.

^^ I am genuinely totally confused and have responded to the club by email suggesting that they have made an error. I worry about how many such emails have been issued - and how many will simply spend the vouchers without checking that they should’ve been issued.

There could be a common sense reason they're all here. Cafu and Guerrero were already contracted to Oly so maybe it was considered a transfer to England might just be positive move for all, rather than them being dumped and a financial hit be taken by EM. Both seem physically built for the championship to be fair. Bachirou, I dunno, maybe Sabri was pushing for him or something? He has been injured after all so might be better than we are assuming. And Diallo has played most of his football in France, so will have been known to Modesto/Anigo. He might just have been recruited as a low cost third choice keeper who the scouts knew could do a job, in the unlikely event he would be needed.
