The Premier League 2024/25
Both Villa and Chelsea need wins today to go ahead of us. Spurs v Villa and Man Utd v Chelsea so both have tricky games.

Wouldn't it be lovely to stay 3rd on merit for a week?

Edit: Isn't this crazy talk. My God, 3 years ago we were bottom of the championship.

I remember looking at that season where Sheff United had a hoofing season but with a squad made up of div1 and champ players.
That squad we have assembled is different gravy. We are here to stay and compete just like EM said.

Long season ahead with many twists and turns but we are on the up. Absolutely buzzing this morning

It is mind blowing stuff.
Here’s something else mad. If (very big if of course) we can beet Newcastle next week, highly likely we go into the international break in the top 4.
Then we will go to Arsenal on the 23rd ahead of them in the league and therefore favourites.

Absolutely mental.

Yup. I was being flippant but when you consider...

- Late equaliser for Bournemouth
- Wonder-performance by Sam Johnstone for Wolves
- Wonder-saves by Sanchez late on for Chelsea
- Good chance missed late on against Brighton
- Penalty decisions against us vs. Fulham

...it's actually not that flippant after all.

I think everyone has had thoughts around ‘what if’.
We’ve had some luck too in a few games, but it’s not too big a leap to suggest we really should have beaten wolves and at least drawn with Fulham.
22 points and pulling away from the pack at the top…..

I'm as excited as everyone today but Fulham are a good side, did a job on us and we were terrible that game. Got what we deserved.

We deserve to be where we are though. No question about it. Solid recruitment and top coaching in addition to our player performances.

trying not to get to ahead of myself as we've played some out of form or poor sides recently. Newcastle will pose a different challenge but one we can now safely face with no fear - same with Man Utd/City/Arsenal so we may not yield as many points over next few games but as long as we stay on track and put a good shift in will should expect some.

We're harder than Man United and we're louder than the Kop,
We're third in the league and we should be at the top.
Na na na naa na, na na na naaa na

Brilliant Tricky. This team is the real deal. How good did it feel in the stadium again yesterday? The whole club as one is a very powerful thing. Long may it continue.

Johnson's just equalised for Spurs taking us back into 3rd place.

3-1 Spurs now so whatever happens in the Man U vs. Chelsea match we'll end the game week in the Champions League places.

For all how excellent our start has been, if you count the Southampton and Leicester wins as the equivalent of the Sheffield United and Burnley ones last season, we're actually only two points better off in the comparative matches.

Hopefully that number will increase as the season goes on.

Workings:

Bournemouth (H) +1
Southampton (A) 0
Wolves (H) 0
Liverpool (A) +3
Fulham (H) -3
Brighton (A) +1
Chelsea (A) -2
Palace (H) +2
Leicester (A) 0
West Ham (H) 0
