Are We Going Down?

If we kept on at our current rate spurs would have to get 15 points from their last 5 games so win them all

Let’s say we lose Friday and then look at our last 5 including that, we’d be on 1.6 ppg. They’d still have to win all 5 games but let’s say they do beat wolves the next day. It moves them up to 1.25 ppg and if that carries on they’d still be 3 points behind us at the end of the season.

West Ham on the other hand have 1.6 ppg carrying on like that would net them another 8 points, spurs would have to get 11 points from the remaining games 3 wins and 2 draws but if they beat wolves and West Ham lose to Everton they’d be on the same 1.25 ppg and if that were to carry on West Ham would be down. So it’s far more important for spurs (of course) to just concentrate on bettering West Ham’s next 5 fixtures. I’m just not sure apart from the wolves game where points happen for the both of them currently

PPG is only a good indicator to review retrospectively rather than foresee the future.

It's so funny - just watching Sky Sports and Charlie Austin has been doing his predictions of the final five matches. He's got us picking up 7 points (beating Newcastle and Bournemouth and drawing at Chelsea).

Austin had Leeds to win at Spurs and you could almost hear the outrage from the Sky presenter that he didn't pick Spurs to win. Austin has Spurs winning two games and getting relegated.

TBF to him Austin's view was far more balanced than Sherwood's yesterday - which makes sense I guess as he doesn't have the bias.

I would be more comfortable if the 5 points gap was between us and west ham rather than spurs, who out of the three have the most likely points score-able games.

Five remaining games and I expect
Forest to get 3 points from 3 draws. I don't see an out and out win
West ham could be 4 draws or 3 draws and Leeds on the beach last game of season gifting WH the win for 6 points.
Spurs two wins thanks to Wolves and a switched off Leeds and two draws most likely Everton and Chelsea.
All teams on 39 and goal difference comes into play.

It is still pretty stressful isn't it, this Friday's game does feel like a big chance to get us most of the way there.

Newcastle is still the easiest game left, they look completely gone right now. I mean they are only 6 points ahead of us and have Brighton and Arsenal before they play us, we could overtake them!

I think Sunderland, Newcastle and Bournemouth are good chances to win. Chelsea is harder but winnable given their current form and Man Utd is tough but also Leeds showed its winnable.

I do agree with the general sentiment though, Opta's 4% chance of us going down feels wayyy too low.

Bournemouth are the form team of late. They are also our bogey team. Would love to beat them but would be happy not losing to them.

Sun'land have only lost once at home this season. i think to Brighton. Who are shizo. i think we have a chance for 3 points as they are more likely to be attacking against us. I would like to give them a dose of there own medicine by emplying Taiwo a little bit. I think he could cause Chaos and a fresh Chris wood and jesus could finish them off.

it's important that the players get rest this week and really go for it. Anderson being a Geordie will probably want to get one up on the Mackems.

A win is super important but so is not losing. They sucker punched us earlier this season. Would be lovely to do the same to them.

Cunha to play instead of Murillo to let him rest would also probably be a good thing. Not sure what is wrong with him but it seems to be a re-occuring issue and resting him would probably be good. The CHO thing was weird. i guess he over worked himself during the break and maybe that wasn't the right thing to do but his intentions were pure.

Super important to put the pressure on the spuds and and Spammers Friday. Bring it on!

Chicago: Still hopeful.

Our biggest problem is that 4 out of 5 of our remaining opponents are all chasing either Champions League or Europa league places. That makes it really tough.

Though pretty much most of the league can say that this season. Almost everyone from Palace upwards.

Sunderland have actually lost 3 times at home this season mate, Brighton, Fulham and Liverpool, drawn 5 and won 8.

It is a tough ask but everything is on the line for us, we know if we get a win we are almost safe and can focus on the europa. I can really see us going all in on this fixture and taking a win.

Them 3 games were in the last 4 games too. They beat Spurs with a deflected goal. They are a very solid team but I think we have a chance.

We're unbeaten in five in the league and seven in all competitions. Our confidence should be the highest it's been all season.

And we have nearly a full week off too so should be fresher than we have been for some of those too.

3 points against Sunderland would let the lads go into the Europa semi without having to worry about points at Chelsea si much which would allow rotation.

Sunderland last 5 home games: WLLLW F:5 A:5

Forest last 5 away games: WLLDW F:9 A:7

If I was looking at form for a bet I wouldn’t know what to think

Where the opposition Sunderland beat are placed currently. 18th 19th…

Where the opposition we beat are placed currently. 18th 9th

So in the last 5 they’ve beat spurs and Burnley one hasn’t won in 15 and the other hasn’t in 7

West Ham’s last 5 home games: WDDDW

Everton’s last 5 away games: DWWLD (that loss was Arsenal)

Wolves last 5 home games: LLDWW (draw/arsenal win/villa and Liverpool)

Spurs last 5 away games: DLLDL

All evenly matched, well not spurs
