Unfortunately Hughton isn’t the right manager for plan B IMO.
I think we need to make the change now before we waste another 5 games.
If we knew that we really should have pulled the trigger on CH 3 months ago. Someone is to blame for delaying that decision.
Or clever. Brand new CEO comes into a club who already have a well respected manager amongst the majority of the fan base, his first action is to sack that manager, he gets instant backlash because that manager is so well respected, even more so if the season then starts badly under a new guy.
Instead the new CEO waits 4/5 games, if the well respected manager gets off to a good start then fair enough, he can stay the extra season and see out his contract, it's a season of transition anyway... but if he starts the season really badly (coming into it off the back of poor form at the end of last season) then gets sacked, the CEO might find he has the majority of supporters on his side just by waiting those 4/5 games.
What a hideous strategy.
There is plenty of upside for Murphy there, but not very much for the Club.
We know from Widdow that bids have gone in for players, and he has an impeccable record for transfer gossip at the Club.
So we have a list of targets but the main man cannot get any of the deals over the line; he probably thinks he is being clever by offering derisory amounts to desperate Clubs in need of the money.
Well guess what, we are the desperate ones now; if Murphy goes back in for any of the players we have had bids rejected for, it will smack of desperation and the price will go up again.
If things drag on another week we will have players rejecting us because the do not fancy a relegation fight.
I suppose you cannot really blame the players for showing a lack of desire when the CEO does the very same.
Do you think there is sufficient cash there to get all of the players CH wants?
I don’t, hence his current strategy.
It is common knowledge that we are short in a number of areas; Murphy has two choices, he signs players for those positions or he runs with things as they are and gets us relegated.
If he needs to sell to finance incoming that is exactly what he should do.
If anyone thinks there will be a line of managers beating the CEOs door down for the job under the current circumstances, they are deluded.
Our current position after three games is totally self inflicted; Barnsley looks like a flash in the pan; this job looks too big for him.

The guy has been in the door 2 minutes, and to be fair the players he has actually signed have been of good quality. Let him finish the job, if you think it will take 1 window you are sadly mistaken. This is a 4 window rebuild at the very least.

Eh?!? :D You're having a laugh aren't you mate?
Figs better than Dawson? (who played most of the period when we were doing well)
Bong better than Ribero?
Colback better than Watson?
Mighten better than Ameobi?
Yates better than Sow?
Not to mention Lolley & Grabban both 2 years older.
I don't think I've ever disagreed with a statement more on here tbh.

Dawson was gash that season culminating in that shambolic performance at home against Sheffield Wednesday.
Colback is as good as Watson who ran out of steam by January.
Yates was here.
Mighten will have as many goals and assists this season as Sammy recorded in that one (if he is given sufficient chance).
Johnson could easily replicate Lolley, hence the enquiries for him.
I said squad. We have Grabban and Taylor v Grabban and Mir / Da Costa.

Weird, you were wanking furiously (now, now, User, no need to swear is there? Alf got you real good there.) last Summer how great our recruitment was.
That must be why I have trouble seeing. (Furiously? How furiously? Describe it to me slowly, User.)
But to give Hughton his due, he didn't get relegated with the 14 random players he inherited last year. He played a formation with the squad that was given to someone else. He stopped Forest getting relegated with those mediocre players. Fair's fair.
The only thing weird is thinking we're stronger now than with Sabri's 'hand.' (See what I did there?)
Hughton's been dealt a crummy deck of cards. We're weaker and recruitment is a slow train coming in. Has he even made 1 permanent signing over the last two Summers, User?
I think I was excited like any 'lay man' (heh, heh) at signings coming in last year. Until I had to bite hard on Sabri's reality sandwich. Turns out, they have to be good signings like Zinc Man. Who knew, eh? But then, I'm not payed thousands of £££ to know better. What do I know, eh?
And even a 'lay man' like myself can see you don't start a season without (fullbacks) a left back. Or a ball playing midfielder. Or old strikers. (If they weren't scoring last season, why would they this?)

I said squad. We have Grabban and Taylor v Grabban and Mir / Da Costa.
For me Dawson was brilliant bar a handful of games after his injury. His passing alone gave us an entirely different dynamic, and his leadership a huge boost to the side. Figs is fluff compared to him.
Colback's never had any steam since returning. Watson was brilliant for that half a season.
Sow played instead of Yates for half the season, and was far better.
Johnson's nowhere near the standard Lolley was that season. He's barely in games, never mind likely to score as many goals (think Joe got 10 that year?)
And as for squad Grabban's better than Taylor, Mir & Da Costa both toss.
And then like I say you've Sammy > Mighten currently, and Ribero > Bong.
Sorry, but that's just miles out IMO. I think Sab got the squad punching well above it's weight, but to suggest Hughton has a better squad is well wide of the mark for me.
And then like you've said, there is also Cash to throw in that mix.

Just sack the lot and give up now because a change in strategy cannot be implemented within 6 weeks. Then the lights off and send everybody home.
You nor I have a clue what the budget is or what were trying to do. I'm merely pointing our that the quality of signings that has been made under the CEO's watch have been quality. If he continues doing that we will be alright.
As far as I'm aware the window is not shut yet either.
