Do you just not want to admit EM got this appointment wrong?
What has that got to do with anything?
Is this forum turning into an everyone against EM and Sniffer forum?

Few jibes coming out because of the frustration amongst fans sorry if you think it's personal.

I think some people need to give their head a mighty big wobble!!!
The sides poor performances of late aren't to do with EM, Nuno, Sniffer, Cooper or even uncle Tom f*****g cobbley!!!
The club, as a whole has been taking the most royal of kickings from more or less every conceivable angle of late. S**t refereeing decisions, VAR decisions going against us, the PL AND the Independent Commission f*****g us over a barrel. The list goes on. This is having the biggest effect on the sides confidence. The teams are trying to play too safe and not prepared to take risks going forwards. They are making the same mistakes week after week in defence, namely, somebody switching off and not concentrating. By products of a shot confidence.
I agree that if we carry on the way we are doing, we will end up back in the Championship and if we do, then no doubt the PL will be wanting to hit us again with financial irregularities, probably at the same time as the EFL decide to try their luck with some rich pickings from the Premier League boys!
Nuno needs to really start rallying the troops and try to instill some confidence into the side, but if he can't, that is as much down to the players heads than anybodys fault.

I’m not sure I entirely agree with that Tricky.
Some of the team selections and substitutions of late have had me scratching my head.
Also, watch our organisation from set pieces. It is the stuff of under 11s.
I agree that all of the above is a distraction but we shouldn’t allow it to become an excuse.

I accept what you are saying UN, especially with regards to team selections etc. That is something I had overlooked and must be down to the Head Coach/Manager.
Why though do we struggle with set pieces? We now have a specialist coach overseeing set pieces dont we? Either he is crap at his job or, more likely, the players panic. They have been punished so many times due to lax defending, it seems to me that now their confidence is so shot to pieces they will constantly make the same mistakes time and time again, which in turn breeds more of a lack of confidence. A vicious circle if you like. That circle has got to be broken.
I'm not saying the above should be an excuse, I agree it really shouldn't be. However, how much more S**t will we be given by powers beyond our control? How many more points are we going to be denied or robbed of? These all have a negative impact on our players and their confidence.
As others have alluded to, I hate it in the PL. There seems to be nothing but off the pitch dramas and incidents, totally distracting from us playing free flowing entertaining football.

From what I have seen our defending at set pieces is as much down to how we are setup as it is the players. Nuno has tried various personnel and still getting the same result.
Surely if it is the players then the manager has to change the way we defend them to counter that?

Let’s be honest it should be one of the easiest problems to solve in football at this level. You can’t do much to correct an imbalance in quality but organising how to defend set pieces should have been solved by now. Another poster has also mentioned how we seem to get tactically exposed by others. We seem a little bit predictable and inflexible. I know Villa are a good side but we really got tactically exposed in that match. It might be too late now to change manager. I would have done it after the Villa loss as it was obvious the direction we were going in.

Shay Given (knows a bit about defending!), pointed out on MOTD how deep we defend set pieces. That makes it hard for keeper to come and claim etc

Sels is one of those keepers that prefers to stay on his line, not saying thats a bad thing, just his way. Turner is the opposite and quite aggressive at coming for crosses. However I cant really see a difference in how we have organised set pieces depending on the keeper. Yes we do defend very deep.
The other thing that infuriates me is the 11 men in our own box thing. Why the hell not leave Elanga up the pitch?
What’s weird is that Nuno appears to favour exactly the same set up as Cooper, haven’t seen any change at all in how we approach them. Its the one thing I thought he was sure to improve us on.

Cooper had big wins against Chelsea and Villa. Nuno had Newcastle and Man Utd - other than that it feels like Groundhog Day. Not playing that badly, conceding stupid goals, not quite winning. Exactly what cooper achieved.
Cooper needed to go, but not to be replaced by this guy.

Leave it out Marco. This time last season the Cooper out brigade (you know who you are) were in full cry too. They had got their way then I firmly believe we would currently be in the Championship. Similarly were we to change now it would be suicidal .
Nuno needs our full backing now, weird team choices or not, and we can reassess end of season.
