Except there are still no permanent signings for Hughton.
SA.
He had his team last year. What did he do with it? They were good damn awful. They were loans so it does not count? We looked less of a team at the end of the season than we did at the start of it.
Name his team of permanent signings. Go on.
What team of 11 players did Hughton have 'of his' last year that he signed on for the poison chalice?
He didn't bring in any players last Summer. He brought in a loan.
Had to wait until the January window to band aid last Summer's dart board recruitment. He brought in? Murray. Garner. Krov'. Mere patchwork for the recruitment problems Forest made for themselves previously when Hughton wasn't here.
None of whom were permanent (and Garner and Krov' going back has proven damaging to the team because we're weaker without them and it's shown in the start to the season.)
Still waiting on that striker.

Just give up Strawbs me owd. The consensus is that we're crap and it's all CH's fault.
Not the case actually. Though every single post where Hughton gets criticised is jumped on by a few folk and the same lines repeated about no permanent signings and it's getting a bit boring. I think the vast majority of poster agree that recruitment hasn't been up to standard but a similar majority also don't rate Hughton and wouldn't mind if he was moved on.
There is probably a thought that by defending the manager, people are taking the mature, classy, sensible opinion but in all honesty the people that are defending Hughton are actually slating an entire squad of players! Most of them are not crap players, a lot of them would perform far better with better management, I believe. I just don't feel Chris has a fire in his belly, maybe his previous success has made it less exciting to try and only win promotion from the Champ, who knows.
I would far rather we kept with a manager for the long term and built on a system, but it has to be the right manager...is that Chris, I'm not so sure.

You can't determine if a manager who had fantastic record at Brighton and Newcastle to get out the Championship is 'crap' unless he's judged by the players he's brought in.
And he hasn't been afforded that backing. There's no point bringing in a quality manager and not backing that.
It's the key flaw in the Forest hierarchy.

it's good you believe in this man, continue doing so, we could be about to embark on a 10 game winning run
but you are conceding really it won't happen, the utopian scenario of managers shopping for a squad of players has never really happened
last season he could make 5 changes, even in our meagre situation there are lots of potential breakthrough players and last season he also had 14 players in addition
despite significant if not huge resources available to Hughton last season he didn't really integrate young players into the side, chucking a load of kids in occassionally isn't sufficient and it virtually never happened last season, if anything the opposite
a managers job is to have some vision, he isn't a visionary, he certainly isn't looking at new ways to approach game or game management
when the approach is dull and not working and repetitive and cautious it's really beyond a joke and this defence of 'not his players' stuff doh
a good manager integrates and develops what he has right here right now and last season his lack of foresight and develpment has sabotaged this season
Name the permanent signings he's brought in, Psycho.
Can you do it? :)
You don't like him because he plays 'boring' football provided for him with poor recruitment (not his) and even worse succession planning (not his and see the start to this season.)
But you somehow have to make do with that he's got and make them competitive.
How are you going to make a 34 year old striker score goals? (I'm intrigued by the answer.)

No manager goes in and signs 11 players. Most go in and add 1 or 2 each window.
As stated above he has had players that he chose that cost us a fortune in loan fees and wages and we were still crap.
I think we all agree that, with the players we have here now we should be doing better but the tactics he plays just don't suit work in this team. It is his job to find something that does work.
Glen Murray, knockeart, krov, horvath, garner, zinc, tutu are all his signings with the first 3 on that list costing us a lot in fees and wages. 7 players there 4 last season... that's more than 1/3 of a teamast season of his signings and he couldn't get them playing.
At this point I'd rather the club sign players to suit the playing style our CEO stated we would be using when he first got the job.

In fairness to Hughton, the results in the league have been quite close. (But where are the recruits to turn those results into draws? Wins?)
1 goal in it. And all could have been draws by some suspect keeping. (Also Hughton's fault.)

You could argue that he should have dropped samba but in true CH style he persists with something that hasn't been working...
How many mistakes does samba have to make before he is dropped. That's the managers decision to play him. He should have been dropped after the cov game.

ER. That's not true at Forest. At all.
Aitor went out and brought in 10(!) players in January following 'that' Preston game.
Sabri brought in 14 players.
Even Warburton brought in a handful of his own players and stopped there as he said (allegedly) he didn't need more at the time.
Billy signed a good few players in this 1st season also...
SoD had an entire squad built in a about a week.
Garner and Krov' weren't signed until January and were only loans. They went back. None of those two were available for the 1st 4 games and it showed. We were a worse team without them. (Recruitment problem.)
All of the players you mention are loans. :) Loan players go back. They can be recalled. There's no building there afforded for Hughton. At all. So, how many permanent signings has he been allowed to make? He only brought in one player from the back end of last Summer. A few loans (which he gets credit for as they kept Forest up. Including the maligned Knocker.)
Most of the teams getting results have added '1 or 2 or few per window...' Yeah. Ofc. Because they don't tear squads up and sign 14 players in one window. Then tear it up again and begin from scratch without fullbacks or a young striker.
It's clear what Hughton needs. But the CEO can't see his way to providing it yet. The only fit outfield player to start the season was Zinc? We've had to wait a further 4 league games for Garner.

The short sighted approach in my opinion is the one that does give a manager free reign and let him bring all his buddies in, only to sack him a few months later then you end up with a load of unhappy players who cannot work with the next guy and your new bomb squad. Imagine if we had let Hughton sign Knockaert for £10M. He would probably have said yes to the deal.
The sensible approach is to build a young hungry squad with a style of play and then you bring in the manager that fits that ethos. I realise that is the head coach model that we tried with Sabri, it looked good for a while, with a coherent plan behind it still think its the best way.
The problem there is sacking the bloke, not backing him.
Knockers came here as a loan for a club in a desperate situation. I very much doubt Hughton would have spent 10m (lord knows where that figure has come from) on him given a full pre-season to sign players and a budget to work with.
It can be argued whether Hughton's requirements are too rich for the club, but then again that's down to those in charge to determine before they set the bloke on.
I think Hughton's a dead man walking, but I've no doubt that we could set Clough MK2 on and he'd still get nowhere if he got the (lack of) backing which Hughton did.

Hardly sets up any manager for free flowing football.

Samba? He's cost Forest points.
Hughton sticks by his players. That's either a good thing or a bad thing. Some may argue...
When things were getting a bit much for Figs? He took him out. And brought him back. I thought that was good management. Not because Figs is great but until recruitment provide him with better he shows he does 'manage' players.
He's showing faith in Samba. It's commendable. With a good defence in front of him, would Samba have conceded? Perhaps not. When your keeper is having to bail out your fullbacks (because recruitment didn't do their job...). But as the last line of defence I think he's flawed.
