How can you oversee Forest operations if you are based in Athens Widdow?

Perhaps I should apply, I'll do it for half of Vrentzos salary.

Don't forget Stuttgart's Head of Analytics - George Syrianos. He should be announced soon according to Daniel Taylor.

I don’t think he will be officially announced, just like Chris Brass wasn’t.

As for Dane Murphy I am quite positive this will happen (unless last minute goalposts are moved) I expect to hear some feedback early this week.

I suspect this won’t be be the back of Vrentzos though, he will be based in Athens and overseeing Forest Operations.

Let’s see, as they need to start cracking on the transfers.

That is very interesting news Widdow; thanks for sharing

It would not be impossible to oversee the financial side of things remotely.

If I remember correctly, there were rumours of a Financial Director being appointed; if that is the case, you then have a fully functioning Board with strategic decision making taking place in Greece.

There is no reason why that should not work.

Yes but there is a huge difference between overseeing Forest operations and overseeing some financial things. It's not quiet the same thing is it?

There is no reason for him to be involved in the day to day operational side of things; If you have the right people in place, let them get on with running things at a local level.

There is more than enough to keep Vrentzos busy at a Strategic level; the new stand for starters, finding a location for a new training ground and Academy, and then there is oversight of P & S and all other aspects of governance.

There is no doubt that Vrentzos is a brilliant administrator; that is where he needs to focus his attentions.

I know that but that is not my point. How the hell can he find a new location for a new training ground and Academy if he is moving back to Athens? It makes no sense at all.

He will continue to work for EM that's for sure and perhaps Forest too in a smaller watered down capacity and probably he will be based in Athens, but to be based in Athens and running ALL Forest operations and finding new sites for the training ground and Academy etc. I am sorry but that makes no sense at all to me.

He will not go round looking at sites himself; he will employ an agent to find a site.

Once they find somewhere, he will then employ a Company like Bennoy to draw up the plans.

He could comfortably carry out 90/95% of that work without leaving Athens.

I'm not sure what he needs to get involved in at an Operational level; he will have a team of Directors, running their own cross functional department, reporting in to him; he then has all the information he needs to make informed decisions; a lot of big businesses work that way.

Directors used to meet in Board rooms to have a Board meeting; they no longer have to be in the same Country never mind the same room to meet; that's Technology for you.

EM: Hello Mr. Dane Murphy and thank you for coming down from Barnsley today for your interview to be the new CEO of Nottingham Forest.

DM: My pleasure it's nice to be here. So why should I leave my current position of CEO at Barnsley and come and work for Nottingham Forest?

EM: Because we need a new CEO but all our football operations decisions will be made by Ioannis Vrentzos who is moving to Athens.

DM: Oh okay I see. Good bye then and thanks for your time.

Hence why I mentioned goalposts being moved. Will Murphy be happy reporting into Vrentzos ?

Sure it's all been discussed, and if he does join us, then can only be a positive outcome?
