They are used to working at the top end of Football, Champons League etc and they are certainly not used to scratching around trying to get out of the second division. It's totally alien to them and sometimes unfortunately it shows.
I have no doubt whatsoever that once we get into The PL (if) then this football club will go from strength to strength. It is so frustrating what is happening now not only for us the fans but for our owners too.
There is no magic formula. Every season we are competing with Clubs who have more income from parachute payments or have been better run for years and now benefiting e.g Brentford.
I think in all fairness, Brentford has no history to speak of, therefore, their fans do not have the expectations Forest fans have.
Us older fans were spoilt by not only watching and living the dream of winning the First Division, then the European successes afterwards. We didn't expect our club to do all of that. We would've been happy to just stay in Division One and not get relegated. But it happened and some of us were there to be a part of it. But our younger fans, quite understandably want to be a part of something similar again. This has greatly increased our fans expectations and therefore cannot and will not accept anything other than top class performances.
The supporters of our club are not wrong in wanting what we have had before, but I do think they forget the fact that what happened over 40 years ago, was always going to be a one off. There was only ever one Brian Clough and Peter Taylor. There will never be the same again!
I think it is fair to say that most, if not all of our owners since the club was sold to private investors, have all wanted the same thing, without ever stopping to realise that what happened in the late 70's was down to the genius and philosophies of two great men and not by pouring good money after bad.
