I think there is a lot of revisionist talk with regards to our summer business personally. We knew coming in to the summer we needed basically a second XI to cover for European games. We lost Elanga, and spent 30-40m three times in an attempt to replace him, should we have spent 60m on his equivalent? Could we even get anyone better than the level of the guys we went for?
Otherwise, lack of full back cover was a mistake but otherwise we covered all bases. We got experience in Luiz to cover a position where we maybe were a little short. What other positions did we need experience at? Who are you taking out of that team at the time?
Jesus/Kalimuendo/Wood seemed like a strong front 3. Young players particularly from abroad take time to adapt.
So which players or type of player should we have been signing in the summer?
