They may well come good in the long term but this season we needed decent experienced players, not players finding their way into the game at the top level. In other words, Edu's been buying for the long term, but the team needed proven quality short term, to enable the squad to perform in two competitions. So there's a disconnect there. A massive hole in the strategy. And as Edu's responsible for the strategy it's on him.
It seems that Dyche wanted prem ready experience in in January, players like Dunk and Matetta. He was handed Lucca (who failed at his last club) and Netz who is a youngster. Neither have played abroad before. It was pathetic.
The guy needs to go. He's trying to build a slow-burner project, like he did at Arsenal. Do that at a club like ours and we get relegated.
What if building a slow-burner project was what EM told him to do though?
I still think it's far too simplistic to lay all the blame at Edu's door.
If he was told to have a slow-burner approach then he should have advised the owner that the team needed players for the here and now too. He has, afterall, been brought in for his football knowledge and experience.
