This whole "soulless bowl" narrative needs to go, watching the Olympiacos game last night, their bowl looked rocking!
Wasn't too long ago the atmosphere at City ground was pretty poor.

That said, I'd rather we stay and improve, and I think that Athletic article was put out to help negotiations with council and to soften fans opinion of move.

Do you go to many away games?

How many grounds have you been to?

It’s not a narrative it’s a fact. 

If your experience of new stadiums is watching on TV where they strategically place microphones or the playoff final then that’s not the weekly reality. 

I was speaking to a number of West Ham and Spurs fans last week, they hate it despite the enhanced facilities. 

Other clubs are envious of what we have.

I go to Away games if I can get a ticket, which is hard these days. 4 this year, 6 last, more in the championship.

I have been to both West Ham and Tottenham's stadiums. The West Ham stadium is terrible for Football, it's there to make mega money and get 5K+ tourists. Way to far away from pitch. Tottenham is a great stadium, but they have priced out a large number of "traditional" fans.

There are many reasons for a good or bad atmosphere.

They are both great examples of how poor the atmosphere can be.

Whilst the new WHL might be great from an experience perspective, the atmosphere pretty much dies a death in most games once the trumpeter finished playing "Oh When The Spurs". I know this as two mates are season ticket holders there.

The olympic stadium is a prime example of how wrong it can go. The fans are so widely dispersed. They have gone the opposite way and lost any real atmosphere except for the really big games.

Due to their increased capacity the tickets are quite reasonably priced so there is a large proportion of season ticket holders who go simply to see EPL games, when they can be bothered. The club are trying to address this but whether that will ever enable them to recover what they have lost, time will tell.
