Looking around the City on Google maps there are a few possibilities, none of the straightforward.
1. Nottm College/Council workshop area opp Hooters over the canal.
2. Broadmarsh ( if take down the old car park/Ocean nightclub block of buildings
3. Sneinton bus depot opp Ice Stadium.
4. between Glasshouse st and Huntingdon St. (oh mist rolling in from Viccy flats)

The thought of having to head out to M1 every game is depressing.

Eastcroft? That'd probably be big enough if they could flatten everyhting but there's a lot of businesses on there that'd need relocating, including the incinerator. Plus we'd be even closer to Meadow Lane.

The ideal spot was the Eastside development the other side of the train line, between the BBC building & Manvers St but that has now been sold off and building has started.

I don't think Holme Pierrpoint is suitable for a Stadium, however they did look at building a new training ground up that way.

Anything beyond Wilford on the A453 is too far out of town for me, so Ratcliffe would be a massive no. However it wouldn't surprise me if they looked that way for a new traning ground.

What about the land currently used by the rugby club on the other side of lady bay bridge?

Its all flood plain I believe.
