Great piece in the athletic today about breaking the cartel of the big boys and featuring Leicester and Soton. Really insightful and interesting and many relevant points about recruitment structures and the need to act quickly to fly fish talent before the big boys’ trawlers pass.
Reveals stuff about Maddison, and mentions our new recruit from rangers and also Tom Stockwell who is joining from Soton - the ‘brains’ behind the systems.
Makes a point that the much lauded recruitment systems at Brentford and Brighton enjoy the benefit of hundreds of in-house analytical staff from their owners’ betting businesses, which is a massive advantage.
That’s something I never thought about when making an arm chair comparison to their success and our recruitment ‘failings’.
I’ve mentioned it on this thread as I’m sure these are things EM and those behind the scenes will be aware of and might be influencing the recent changes made; something we have debated in earlier pages.
