The problem is they will only sign with a release clause at around 8m.

No chance are we going to to that as we will get offers of 12m in Jan.

He definitely wants his cake and to eat it. I dont want to go in hard on the lad but bloody hell, what's he done to earn the right to dictate terms like that?

Looks like our best return will be to get an auction going in Janauary and sell him on 31st to the higest bidder.

The problem with selling him on 31 January is we have little or no time to react and secure adequate replacements. 

If we sell Johnson on 31 January and Zinc returns to Watford we will be in trouble unless there is some quality already lined up. 

We could have players lined up on the premise that if Johnson leaves they will come in but it begs the question as to how good they truly are if they are able to wait until that time and no one else comes in with a competitive/better offer.

Why's Zinc going to return to Watford? 

And I'm sure the club are already making plans for the sale of Brennan if it does look like he isn't going to sign the new deal.

He may well do, I would be surprised if Ranieri doesn't want to have a look at him.

We may well be making plans should BJ be sold but if we don't sell until 31 January then Plan A, B or C may no longer be available. It's a terrible strategy and one that should be avoided at all costs, otherwise we could end up with another Da Costa in his place.

I believe we now have a list of potential targets for every position in the team. That is part of the new scouting process at Forest.
