I hear what you're saying. In fairness, we probably won't come up against a team as big as that again (he says with Boro and Millwall to come...)
Think Hughton needs a bit of time with 'his' own players. How much time is up to the owners.
But for 45 mins, a win was on for Forest. Alot of promise in that 1st half. They got sucker punched with two quick goals in the 2nd half. (That does need addressing.)
They didn't have robust options to bring on to counter that. That's down to recruitment. If we had a 'Gueddy' type and a target man style striker, Cardiff would have bullied us quite so much.
Felt we deserved at least a draw.

SA I do admire your positive outlook and loyalty and generally agree with your points above (as I do with most points you make) but we're at the stage now where the team needs a spark and I just cant see where it comes from other from a change in manager. It hurts me to say it it really does. CH is never going to get 'his' players. He's going to get the C or D list players the club have brought in for him and as he says himself, it's his job to get results from the players he has at his disposal. Unfortunately for Chris, his record with us has demonstrated that he cant coach better performances from the players, which is surprising for an experienced manager. And he cant tub thump his way to motivating performances out of them either as it's not his way. We're on the slide now, and we can all feel it. I hate changing managers every twelve months but if we carry on like this then we're going to find ourselves 7 or 8 points adrift at the bottom with a side lacking in any semblance of confidence and the fans in utter revolt. That situation has relegation written all over it. At least a new manager may refresh the players a little and buy the club some time with the fans, ie a little spark.
I wonder. Had the 1st half continued in the 2nd half how things might have looked different. But we could have said that about the previous games. Keeper errors and dropped points. Forest sit on 1 point.
Hughton isn't daft. He knows it's a results based business. He's alluded to it in interviews.
We narrowly avoided relegation last season (with a careful rescue born of a January window) and it needed careful recruitment this season. (Just look at where teams like Swansea, Barnsley and Reading are. Football is a callous mistress...). Our recruitment has been late, it cost points because we didn't have it early on. So, for me, the season started yesterday.
Caveat being. He now has ten of 'his' (I haven't heard any ringing endorsement of the recruitment by Hughton, a point picked up upon by Radio Notts no less...). Even we 'know' we have our Target c and d players and far from our 1st choices?
When you get ten of 'your' players (I think Hughton will smile at the idea that these players are 'his'...) you then have to start getting results from them. You've probably got about ten games max to do that.
Though if it is a relegation battle, Chris is the one guy I want to turn this around. (In the absence of Billy Davies.)
Currently, the team has gone out in the 1st 6 games and competed for Chris. The results have been close. But Hughton is on record as saying we need to pick up points.
If we're marooned or in danger of getting adrift, the inevitable will happen. (Though, I suspect, that may not change the underlying symptoms of Forest's malaise.)
