I'm gonna put this out there and wait for the pelters.....I reckon Muphy got lucky at Barnsley - had a punt on manager who came good for him. He's unlikely to be able to have the same luck a second time.
The last 2 Barnsley managers have been poached. Struber got nicked too. His last 2 appointments have been excellent. When was the last time we had a manager poached? Was it Platt?
When was the last time Forest recruited players well?

That is a different question entirely. But Dane has certainly appointed 2 excellent managers in recent times. Struber set the foundations and it continued. When your last 2 have both been pinched that is not a bad place to be, you know you are doing something right.
You're right, if the big boys start taking an interest you're doing things well. I know little about Strubar but if he'd not been lucky and come up against a pathetic Forest side on the second to last game of the season and got his team relegated, would he still be regarded as being an 'excellent' manager?
This is what's on his Wikipedia page re his Barnsley time:

It was helped by Wigan Athletic falling into administration and getting 12 points deduction.
