Who's To Blame For Recruitment. Hughton Or Our New CEO?

If we knew that we really should have pulled the trigger on CH 3 months ago. Someone is to blame for delaying that decision.

Or clever. Brand new CEO comes into a club who already have a well respected manager amongst the majority of the fan base, his first action is to sack that manager, he gets instant backlash because that manager is so well respected, even more so if the season then starts badly under a new guy.

Instead the new CEO waits 4/5 games, if the well respected manager gets off to a good start then fair enough, he can stay the extra season and see out his contract, it's a season of transition anyway... but if he starts the season really badly (coming into it off the back of poor form at the end of last season) then gets sacked, the CEO might find he has the majority of supporters on his side just by waiting those 4/5 games.

What a hideous strategy.

There is plenty of upside for Murphy there, but not very much for the Club.

We know from Widdow that bids have gone in for players, and he has an impeccable record for transfer gossip at the Club.

So we have a list of targets but the main man cannot get any of the deals over the line; he probably thinks he is being clever by offering derisory amounts to desperate Clubs in need of the money.

Well guess what, we are the desperate ones now; if Murphy goes back in for any of the players we have had bids rejected for, it will smack of desperation and the price will go up again.

If things drag on another week we will have players rejecting us because the do not fancy a relegation fight.

I suppose you cannot really blame the players for showing a lack of desire when the CEO does the very same.

Do you think there is sufficient cash there to get all of the players CH wants?

I don’t, hence his current strategy.

It is common knowledge that we are short in a number of areas; Murphy has two choices, he signs players for those positions or he runs with things as they are and gets us relegated.

If he needs to sell to finance incoming that is exactly what he should do.

If anyone thinks there will be a line of managers beating the CEOs door down for the job under the current circumstances, they are deluded.

Our current position after three games is totally self inflicted; Barnsley looks like a flash in the pan; this job looks too big for him.

The guy has been in the door 2 minutes, and to be fair the players he has actually signed have been of good quality. Let him finish the job, if you think it will take 1 window you are sadly mistaken. This is a 4 window rebuild at the very least.
