Edu must have pretty green fingers as he is always on gardening leave!

I wonder whether it followed VP not playing any of the new signings. I'm assuming he's reported to the big man his view that's they're a bit rubbish.

Not having that. Hes playing those that are in the groove. McAtee is hugely rated by MGW and Anderson. Ndoye and Bakwa won’t come good until a full pre season with whoever the coach is.
Dyche very complimentary about EM

I mean it’s hard not to see recruitment as one of the issues of this season, with none of the summer signings really commanding a first team spot regularly and making it their own. But.. what was his brief ? Buy young potential with sell on value? If so there is an argument that it’s too early to tell if it’s been a success. Who decides our overall transfer strategy? Whose idea was it to not get in some experience? Is it all on him? Genuine question, I’ve no idea.

The biggest issue is of course Nuno, so if that issue is going to be pinned that on Edu then that combined with the poor recruitment makes it an easier decision.

Edu was/is head of global football which means he heads up all football related activities. If you note on the press releases after the transfer windows and appointments of the many managers it states along the lines of “following a thorough process led by Edu Gaspar”. How thorough those processes have actually been I will leave you to decide.
As to the argument of buying players with potential I beg to differ. EMs brief was clear, to win the Europa league if possible and to build a squad capable of competing in multiple competitions. We clearly havent done that as we are so heavily reliant on last years team. Its fine having some to come good later, Jair Cunha a good example, I think he is ready now but we can’t do that for all of them. Ndoye is an experienced player he should be delivering now. We have needed a CF to succeed Wood for 2 seasons and still haven’t delivered on one. Last season that decision cost us a CL place, this year it may cost us our PL place. The rest of the recruitment team are culpable on that bit too. As for the wider remit of building a football strategy, we have lurched through 4 managers with diametrically opposed styles, its hardly building a dynasty. |
