Evangelos Marinakis And Co
Let’s measure the qualities in a successful ceo then

Six top qualities of a CEO

Vision. A CEO should have a clear direction in which they want to steer their business. ...

Receptiveness. It is crucial to listen to others around you. ...

Motivation. The ability to pursue a goal with enthusiasm and instil that same attitude in others is a key component of a good CEO. ...

Adaptability. ... like dealing with COVID as one example or council not agreeing with plans

Trust. Staff trust that the CEO is moving the club in the right direction

Respect. Successful ceo are respected by staff and the network they work in.

Of course players should take blame, but end of the day those said (snowflakes) players were brought to the club by the current regime. All done to bad recruitment again and lack of vision/strategy from the top.

No idea Sniff.
Don’t know what the issues are.

But - in my profession - we would just have arranged a f..k off session. No holds barred clear the air opportunity for all.

Bearing in mind that Vrentzos is Marinakis right hand man and one of his closest friends who he trusts.

That! my friend is a bloody good question and one that I don't think anyone can answer!

We all agreed that Nigel Doughty was a true fan, a caring professional owner who invested heavily and wanted nothing more than the best for this club. Yet he put his trust in his right hand man, Mark Arthur who many of us feel made a poor job of running the club and the relationship unfortunately soured.

There are obvious parallels here with Marinakis and Vrentzos.

The players need to step up, win a few games and get us going. That is all.

Agreed Pap and it's kind of the point that I have been trying to get across now for a few weeks.

It's doing no good at all in fact I'd say it's harming the club big time and it's even filtering through to performances by the looks of it.

I know that Vrentzos is not perfect and I don't come on here to defend him, I come on here to try to make the point that it isn't doing the club any good at all by having journalists and twitter campaigns etc complaining about him and trying to get him removed. It will probably all end in tears just like it did with Doughty and Arthur and we all know what happened after that. If EM decides he's had enough and he decides to sell the club then I seriously fear for our future.

So players, journalists and fans etc need to step up and rise above it and start giving their all for this football club.

Think you make some good points here Sniff.

I do think there are big questions over Ventroz & how much involved he is with the footballing side of things, but that said you're points about Doughty are true too. Personally I'd just like to see Hughton backed & a stop to these random imports, as a sign we're entrusting the football to those who know about football.

Just to add a counter point though, Fazza also decided to sell up and we moved forward for that, so that's worth baring in mind if EM does leave.

What we need as fans from those running the club is an actual transfer strategy. I'm excited about plans for the future regarding the stadium development and moving our academy to Cat 1 and realise that if we didn't have EM as owner we would be in big trouble. My problem is that we seem to have a philosophy of throwing a bunch of crap against a wall hoping that some sticks. This usually involves selling our best young players to fund the signing of wasters on the north side of 30 looking for one last contract. I'd much rather we had signed a quality player in his mid-twenties like a Jed Wallace or Alex Mowatt instead of signing a boat load of players in midfield hoping 1 or 2 come good. Both of those players I named would have been expensive but we need quality instead of quantity and the term "expensive" also applies to those who we signed that will not contribute, just collect a wage. One need look no further than the signing of Da Costa as an example. 30 years old in 2 months, signed a long contract until 2023 and loaned out 6 months after we signed him. This is the kind of incompetent transfer which is holding our club back and it is a strategy that the Greeks must fix if we are to move forward.

A few of us have been saying this for a long time, Woany. 71 players and 5 managers in 3 seasons, its no wonder we keep failing.
The key word here is Strategy. We need one that we stick with, something that remains consistent despite the inevitable comings and goings of both players and managers. It is something we have never had.

I don’t think you’ll find anyone disagreeing Woany.

The signings of Soh and Mckenna fit that build. I think they showed a positive change in strategy. About 8m spent there just on fees right?

Pretty much the budget spent right there on transfer fees.

I think the mistakes were made primarily in previous windows, I'm not sure we could've pushed the budget too much more in this one. Although signed a fair few players we didnt need again too

14 players in. Old ones, young ones, expensive ones, cheap ones, a heap of defensive midfielders, 1 attacking midfielder, no pace, unfit players who hadnt been on the pitch for months.

If you have a strategy you look to acquire players who fit that bill, most should be on the same mould. We do have some good players in the squad I accept but as to an actual plan, dont make me laugh.

Yeah so previously we just signed old and foreign based players. This time we signed young, old and primarily UK based ones. So a clear change, not saying it was an amazing strategy but still a step in the right direction surely?
