RE: The 2 Infrastructure Projects - Redgirl - 23-09-2018 All gone quiet on this one, wonder what the big announcement was. Speaking of the ground does anyone know how long the 'family' area will be open for?. Shame it rained last night and we had to go straight in the ground. As a family of four generations it's brilliant for us. Wonder if they will put a cover over it or maybe move it to somewhere under the stands? I like the little club shop too, it's ideal if you just want a scarf or a shirt and don't want to wait half an hour in the main shop. They are just so slow in there. As I live quite a way from the ground it's not really plausible for me to go in the week but I hate queues. RE: The 2 Infrastructure Projects - woody - 23-09-2018 Did anyone know that our average attenadances have never gone above 32,501. That was season 77/78 obviously but our second best seasonal average was in 57/58 at 31,305. Our worst (I think) was in 84/85 when we dropped to 16,766 but I believe that this was much to do with the high level of football hooliganism. Even Man U only averaged 42,521 and the second placed team Liverpool 32,022. Sorry, I digressed. The 57/58 season cant really be used as there were very few if any away fans in those days. But it would seem that a 35,000 stadium would satisfy our needs. RE: The 2 Infrastructure Projects - ozzyten10 - 23-09-2018 We’d need a 40000 stadium if in the prem. we’d fill that for bigger games RE: The 2 Infrastructure Projects - Paplane - 23-09-2018 Can you imagine how difficult it would be around the ground if attendences were 40k? Car parking's poor now. Trams and buses are packed. Even walking away from the ground behind the trent end is terrible now. Add another 12 thousand people to that and it would be really really bad. New stadium on new site required IMO if there's 40k of demand. RE: The 2 Infrastructure Projects - Username - 23-09-2018 Getting away from the Ground yesterday by car was a nightmare. RE: The 2 Infrastructure Projects - Redgirl - 23-09-2018 Despite all the parking and transport problems it would cause I still want to stay at the CG. I don't want a soulless bowl of a ground. As I've said before I still get butterflies walking across Trent Bridge. Can't we just knock down County's ground for more parking? RE: The 2 Infrastructure Projects - ozzyten10 - 23-09-2018 I love the city ground but if we have to move, and to a 40,000 purpose built quality stadium then so be it. We should have took that option years ago to groundshare with Notts - it would have been 38,000 and be multi purpose- instead we diverted funds away from the pitch and ended up relegated. Having no choice but to travel in car - it has been notably more difficult with higher attendances this year. RE: The 2 Infrastructure Projects - Redgirl - 23-09-2018 Yes I agree re travel I have to travel by car too and now have to set off even earlier to ensure a good parking place. A small price to pay. What worries me about 40000 seater is if we have a bad run and the crowds drop, which they would, we would be sitting in a half empty stadium with even less atmosphere. I prefer a smaller packed stadium. I think we just have to agree to disagree on this one. RE: The 2 Infrastructure Projects - woody - 23-09-2018 Where are you trying to drive away from though? If you park as close to the ground as you possibly can then you will have problems getting away and that will be the case whatever ground you park next to not just the City Ground. I drink in the Lady Bay and park in their car park. My family drive home to Leicestershire from there and thats a piece of cake. I have to drive back thorugh the city and if I leave straight away its jammed. Isnt that part of going to 'the game?' If I have a pint, its reasonably clear 20 minutes later. Develope the CG, its where we beat Liverpool 2-0. Its where we beat Derby 5-2. Its our spiritual home. RE: The 2 Infrastructure Projects - Username - 23-09-2018 It wasn’t yesterday. It took 25 minutes to get out of the Guildhall car park and the A60 north was at a standstill. A 30 minute journey took 1 hour 15. RE: The 2 Infrastructure Projects - Redreg - 23-09-2018 I think a big single tier mainstand is the way forward like the Kop at Liverpool with possibilities for safe standing aswell this could be the way forward , move the changing rooms and directors seats to the lower clough stand and get the mainstand Rocking . RE: The 2 Infrastructure Projects - Redgirl - 23-09-2018 I park in county and run back to the car, have to drive through the city but it's usually not too bad. If they move the stadium it's likely to be even further away from me, unless they build it in the middle of nowhere transport will always be a problem, but that wouldn't solve it for fans who come on the train. |
