RE: Opposition Fans Comments - Joe Baker Legend - 20-10-2021 Bristol City Fans Match Comments......1st half The team needs to be prepared and set up far better than Saturday if we are to have any chance. Sent out like "frightened rabbits" again and it will not end well. Is today the day? No! Can see a 2.0 to Forest coming. Prove me wrong City. A rejuvenated Forest backed by a noisy following against a pathetic City who can't string two passes together and backed by the Ashton Gate library. Only one way this is ending and might lead to the first signs of visible disgruntlement among City fans. We've barely raised a whimper about this home form and this can't go on. An ironic chuckle at the end of every home interview from NP about a failure to yet again win might start to grate. have to agree with that sir its starting to get a little worrying how bad we are home form is.also agree about the chuckle but i feel if we dont win tonight that chuckle may be exchanged for gritted teeth.i can only see a forest win but hope i am bloody wrong Has been some turnaround for Forest since letting go of Hughton, I don't like to see clubs who do a 180 in results after getting rid of a manager do that well. But definitely a tricky time to be playing them so not confident of ending the winless run. Hoping there will be much more attacking than there was on Saturday, might be a good game to give Alex Scott some more minutes. Because they’ve bought in an excellent modern day manager who knows the importance of keeping the ball I reckon tonight’s the night. Forest are in form, hugely fancied no doubt. We are fresh from a wimpy performance at the weekend. With Pearson’s words ringing in there ears, this is it lads. Get your money on us. You just know we`ll be 3-0 up and the game will be abandoned............... The NF kit is likely to induce epilepsy! decent play by Scott, poor ball in from James. Very sloppy so far, too many long, aimless balls. Keep it down and play! 10 mins in and how many times have we given the ball away? It really is abysmal. Basic stuff. Our counter attacks consist of us playing back to our keeper The effort is there - hopefully confidence will build Already bored stiff. Game has come to life now Strange to hear "We're Nottingham Forest We'll sing on our own" and "Is this a library", yet the City singing has been coming over loud and clear throughout on Sky. Hadn't really even heard Forest until then. Bizarre acoustics at Ashton Gate. **** me, what another bunch of arse finishing No excuse for that miss from Scott Scott misses a sitter! Looking good now. Sitter for Scott. Like it how we are playing football around their box, not just getting balls in every time. Still trying to walk it in a bit though I wouldn't say that's something we've seen under Pearson though. I think we've been too happy to get early balls in all season and often too easy to defend against, certainly in some of our home games Why are forest dressed as fruit salads Scott seems to have gone into hiding since his horror miss, had shown some nice touches up to that point Off the post , bents beaten Forest hit the post... That was lucky for us! Fabulous saving header from Bakes. The goal for forest is coming starting to get outplayed Johnson is running us ragged Running through our midfield at will This is unsurprisingly awful Our passing is generally pretty awful. Forest gradually taking over the game Get in!!!!!!! Scott Scott redemption! 1-0 Scooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooot!! City 1 Rhubarb & Custard 0. Just thought Forest were just having their best period. Will take that! The crowd sing.... "We're winning at home, we're winning at home how sh#$ must you be? We're winning at home!" We are doing a job on them here, nice work thus far. They like kicking young Alex don`t they? Right now we're two wins from an automatic spot It's clearly confidence, were a different side after the goal. Bit lucky to be up and Johnson looked miles off when he hit the post. Think the first half has been pretty even really, both of us have created chances, and we just got the break. Oddly just thought Forest were just getting on top when we scored. Going to feel a long second half. May not be today, but sense it will be a match like this where we eventually win at home...an even one were on the day the breaks go our way. Goal was against the run of play, not complaining mind. Could do with an extra body in midfield. RE: Opposition Fans Comments - Joe Baker Legend - 20-10-2021 2nd Half Comments will be added tonight RE: Opposition Fans Comments - wassy04 - 20-10-2021 (20-10-2021, 11:43 AM)Joe Baker Legend Wrote: 2nd Half Comments will be added tonight Looking forward to these! :D RE: Opposition Fans Comments - Simon - 20-10-2021 you tease! RE: Opposition Fans Comments - Tricky - 20-10-2021 Thanks once again for doing this Joe. I love reading other fans comments, especially when they have lost :D RE: Opposition Fans Comments - Strawberry Avenger - 20-10-2021 "Because they’ve bought in an excellent modern day manager who knows the importance of keeping the ball." Sound long suffering under Pearson. I wonder what they thought of the 2nd half... :) They'll pay for that 'Rhubarb and Custard' comment, surely? SA. RE: Opposition Fans Comments - Joe Baker Legend - 20-10-2021 Bristol Fans Halftime talk....... Goal against the run of play and a little fortunate but great to see Scott get one. Going to be tense second half if it stays 1 goal in it. HT and a lead. Mostly poor stuff, Forest looked the more likely and our goal came against the run of play. Martin been poor upfront, but did make one important clearance in our own box. Weimann gave the ball away twice in dangerous areas. Back 5 doing well. Wells looks lively. Hopefully Massengo fit enough to come on 2nd half. Great that Scott atoned for his awful miss. That half was all about Tanner and his big double tackle to get crowd going, well done to Scott for being positive on the ball too and his goal Think it's a pretty even half to be honest. Scrappy, disjointed performance….. but I’ll take having the lead. A few players need to up their game in this second half to secure the win. Watching on sky cause I’m ill tonight and it looks like two conference football teams playing each other tbh, exceptions from Tanner and Scott but everyone else looks 5 steps behind. I stress my point again what does Chris Martin bring to this club. Shaded the opening 25, their chances from sloppy passing. Was the shot that hit the post a save or a deflection off defender? Then they had a right old spell for 10-12 minutes that we ended by scoring. Every ball, bounce, etc seems to fall to them. 1-0 I’ll take it. Not vintage. But some good signs. Wells off the shoulder means we keep their CBS honest. I must have lowered my expectations, I didn't think we have been *that* bad. We could lose every game 5-0 and we'd still never be as bad as some on here like to claim. I didn`t think we were coming back out - I thought we`d declared. So IF we win, are we on the pitch? I`m not, I`m going to bed. RE: Opposition Fans Comments - Joe Baker Legend - 20-10-2021 Bristol Fans 2nd Half Comments...... All Forest so far 2nd half As usual we just sit back and let them come on to us, always the same after getting a lead. Need a 2nd goal to win this game I feel. anyone else just waiting for the FFS? Won’t happen ‘til the 95th minute so you can go get a cup of tea Too deep, can't do this for another 40. AW pass the f**kin ball! Not sure that was offside? Flag up straight away - looked offside to me If he was any further ahead of the last man he would have been sat in the Atyeo. Even so, it's been all Forest since the break. Jesus Christ. Our inability to retain possession is now embarrassing. They can’t be this bad Get Weimann off, liability tonight. Another let off Not sure my heart can take this second half if we continue to play the game only in our half. We have nothing upfront Why are we leaving two of them unmarked on the edge Clear to me we can't just sit back 40 mins left ffs. We have nothing outside our own penalty box so far this half! This is currently going one way, and it's not the way we want! Really hope the gameplan isn't to sit onto a 1-0 lead for 45 minutes..... The prob there is a repetitive one Wiemann does really well and breaks 60 yards with the ball and has no options in the final third, loses it and bang, break back and they nearly score (offside) 100% penalty Pen or yellow ref. One or the other no other option Nailed on pen. It's decisions like that that could change the game. And not in our favour!!! If he thinks Scott dived why not give him a Yellow' There is a law that referees adhere to and that is Bristol City must not be given a penalty under any circumstances. Either a penalty or a yellow. Forest commentator has said it was a penalty. As did their forum Scott burst into the box, sliding tackle no where near the ball, Scott goes down. It's either a blatant pen or a dive but ref bottled it We're defo gonna get chances this half as Forest chase it. Must take them when they come I always ask myself the same question in situations like that: Why would he go down? If we do get a penalty, who is tasked with hitting it over the bar? Good battling now, need to keep busy , don't give them time Also did I mention Forest have won the European Cup twice? Referees are obliged to take that into account, it's in the rules. Wells close 38% possession and 65% pass success rate. Not controlling possession are we nige ! Great try by Wells from the half-way line Something needs to change before we concede. What’s the plan Nige! I’d swap HNM for Martinand put AW up top with Wells With WBA to come Sat 3 points here would be very welcome This ref has been questionable all half Terrific by HNM in a tight spot, wells hits post should have been a corner Great save from their keeper but no corner. Open your eyes ref What a save from samba. Superb Great save but useless ref missed it Massengo man of the match so far Wells hits the post, looked like keeper got a hand to it but goal kick given Playing well this half but need a second That was a superb save by Samba Looked a forest penalty to me That was a stonewall penalty against Matty James IMO! No idea how that wasn’t give , maybe it’s our night finally And me. Ref evening things up Scott has looked a couple of times at the bench to come off it would seem Never a pen Obviously a game of opinions but James just clattered into him, shown it 3/4 times on robins tv. He had taken a bit of a heavy touch though which may have influenced the ref, not sure he was making it Remember when some people didn’t think Massengo was any good? Great night for Alex Scott. What a player we potentially have on our hands there Zinkernagl off for them - surprising luton and blackpool flashbacks coming to mind, please pinch another City ssshhh Crazy to not have anyone up front when we clear the ball. There’s 15 mins left! So frustrating when we have possession with little pressure and we carelessly give it straight back to them Starting to feel like the end of the GJ era, where you were just waiting for a goal to be conceded in the last 10mins Wells off for COD Wells off, didn;t see that coming, COD on! Unless Wells is struggling, I don’t see the value in O’Dowda coming on up front ?! to double up on Johnson i expect, come on COD, do your bit F me that clocks slow Do not underestimate how poor Forest are This is torture Think Tanner has been outstanding. What a find Any further back and we will be sat in with the Forest fans Shocking ARGHHHHHHHHH FFFFFFS Pen Another 90 min equaliser incoming What a joke Stupid from baker FFS….. this is torture. And that’s that …FFS Unbelievable Wow, what an idiot. Such a stupid challenge Embarrassing I'm convinced we're doing this deliberately! No ******* way !!!! 1-2 Lost. I’ve had it ******* hell They just do not learn FFS I’m literally Pearson out Pathetic, #cking pathetic Ludicrous. Literally no words. Bunch of ***** **** off You couldn't write it could you!!!!!!!!! I am a big supporter of Nige but how can he survive this? A total joke!!!!!! Was handball 100% and offside but u know our ******* luck It’s almost unbelievable. This one leaves a real mark. Disgraceful absolutely disgraceful It’s why I prefer non league…..this is utter shite! This is total crap,,, we have shown zero will to win and barely compete… absolutely pathetic Shocked. Losing like that is nonsense. Seriously **** this football club. The sooner Lansdown ***** off the sooner we will see progression on the pitch. no team on the planet loses like that Clearly handball FFs. Face it, we could put Pep or Jurgen in charge of this side and the results would be the same. We simply aren't good enough. We are in this for the long haul until we can develop a better squad of players. That’s what happens when you put O’Dowda up top by himself at 1-0 up Ashton Gate is cursed Sack Pearson there I have said it he has to go. We were absolute cruising and have just folded like a pack of cards again. ******* pathetic. Wow that is proposterus thats not for real We didn’t string 5 passes together in their half the entire game I really do not know what to say anymore Logging off this now, going to get messy. Good idea, shut down the board for 24hrs I suggest. open top bus tour and stone them Could feel it coming towards the end but not quite losing it aswell.... I blame the stupid woman on robins tv. All she had to say for the last fifteen minutes was 3 points this, 3 points that. She needs to learnt to keep it quiet. It’s sad but it’s true. We clearly have some good young players, but we also have some absolutely average-to-bad senior pros stinking up the place; need shot of the dead wood asap to be able to get a real sense of things. But honestly; it’s ******* Groundhog Day with these last min goals - and that isn’t just individual mistakes, it’s the coaching; we defend too deep and for too long. I’d rather lose 3-1 trying to go for the jugular than 2-1 to these shitty last minute shockers. RE: Opposition Fans Comments - Joe Baker Legend - 20-10-2021 Bristol Fans Comments The Aftermath..... Hahahaha I am laughing cause I can not be angry anymore. I was laughing my ass off, I was 100% sure we will get another one. You know why ? Cause the faith goes with the better ones. We have a shit team, I don't care about your criticism over my comment. Is a shit team cause of the mentality. The quality is not that bad, a 10-15th place quality for sure. But all of this half our big boys showed us how small Bristol City is as a club. We played against them like they were Real Madrid, hitting every ball into the stand or back to their keaper. Is a fair result and they had a penalty also in min 80. We are going nowhere, be glad that we won't relegate probably. Pearson is not the man, SL is not the man either. Have a nice day, i will go to watch some good football in UCL. All came from a terrible kick-off, where we went back to the keeper (something we never do) a rushed kick and pressure back on us. After conceding one we have to be professional enough to control the things we can control: readiness from kick off, pass quality from kick off, etc and see the game out. Hard after conceding so late and feeling the the world is against us at home but we have to be more professional than this. Shame as we worked pretty hard as a team so to get nothing is tough to take This team has relegation written all over it pathetic Nearly a year of this nigel pearson crap,,, cant keep possession, game plan involves kicking it long and see if theres a rebound or mistake. Absolutely pathetic! But I do ******* hate football sometimes and to see that ugly bastard Cooper run down the touch line. Was the winning goal handball? Steve cooper can **** off aswell the ugly looking *** We should have had a clear pen at 1-0 and we hit the post at 1-0. So maybe we had a bit of bad luck. But they should have had a pen too after that. The winner was handball. So didn't really get the decisions overall. But was more impressed with Forest than I was us. Though it is an improvement. We still can't keep the ball very well. Anyone else beginning to get the ODriscoll vibes from Pearson?? Genuinely the most blatant hand ball you’ll ever see. I thought the tiny pricked steroid filled ref got lots of decisions wrong tonight, Scott should have had a pen. The linesman must have had a good view of that too Did **** all, waste of a sub again , brain dead decision from the touch.line. Sit back, lose. Disagree. COD up front should at this stage of the game be running his nuts off to press. If you leave Wells on who had been doing it all game what would be said 'should have taken hi off for fresh legs' That substitution decision was not the problem, however much some people might like to make out it was! I want to see: - the Scott penalty shout (Scott didn't seem furious about it not being given but Wiemann and James did) - the Baker penalty, Baker seemed furious with the ref suggesting he thinks he got a foot on it (not sure how he would have) or that the Forest player went down (nobody else seemed angry with the ref though suggesting it was a pen). - the last goal as Bentley seemed insensed that the handball was not given but other were screaming offside (which they'd often get wrong if they were ball watching though). Screams to me of poor game management and individual mistakes again. I actually thought Forest comfortably deserved the win. We maybe edged a tight first half and the second half was constant pressure from Forest. They could easily have had an extra penalty and Grabban was clean through but for a very dodgy offside flag. They passed better and pinned us back and eventually the pressure told. The real question is why didn’t any of us put money on forest scoring after the 90th min I said it around the 70th min and I didn’t even do it what an idiot. We all knew it was going to happen, the players knew it would happen. Can’t agree with this. Draw probably a fair result. If anyone deserved to win they did. We couldn’t get out our half for long period Stunned. Can’t believe RE: Opposition Fans Comments - Joe Baker Legend - 20-10-2021 A very frustrating night we need some luck at home second goal hand ball. How nice it would be to have some consistency from referees clear contact on Scott in first half yet no pen We’ve conceded in the final minutes of three from seven home games (Blackpool, Luton and tonight) so basically ever second home game. Might not be Groundhog Day but feels pretty close. Admittedly our away from is much better and is keeping us competitive, but we also don’t sit back half as much, even on leads or when drawing there. As I mentioned; I’d prefer we try and play more expansive at home, even if we end up losing by more, as at this point ‘holding on’ isn’t working. Having watched highlights… - Scott is a pen - Wells shot onto post definitely saved - Definitely pen for Forest - Taylor not offside - Taylor definitely handball So, I reckon of 5 decisions 2 are right (the ones Forests way) and 3 are wrong (the ones our way). That’s not bitter, that’s madness. We need (somehow) to get 3 or 4 up against someone truly dreadful. Isn’t that 16 points from 18 for Forest? We’re not get the rub of the green (looked like blatant handball and possibly offside for the winner), but mentally we’re making it tough for ourselves. As others have mentioned, some of the hoofing and heading second half was so wasteful, we have to be calm enough to hang onto the ball, at least a bit. In lots of ways I thought we looked okay. 3 at the back and wing backs worked alright and thought James, Wells and Scott all had decent games. All the substitutions made us worse I thought, but also thought all understandable given tiring players. Still not convinced by Bents as captain, doesn’t scream ‘cool head in a crisis’, would prefer James, but maybe he hates the idea. Oh well, back on the road for some respite and a demolition of the Baggies. Taylor was well onside... Scott not sure if dive or pen, more likely the latter but definitely nowhere near the ball Mr Martin Right. I now have a pint (in the Sugars, bottom of Christmas Steps), and my slightly more considered view is.... No one was shit this evening, we deserved to go in 1 up at half time, and we were competitive for the huge majority of the match. The ref and his mate dropped a couple of absolute howlers which changed the game. The timing of the Forest goals makes this a more difficult pill to swallow, but I can honesty say that for a side without superstars or any real playing identity, we are becoming more difficult to beat. Am I worried that we haven't won at home in 17 games? Yes. I am. Do I think we will win soon? Yes. I do. Game management needs attention, but tonight - for me - the desire and tempo we never got on Saturday was back. Reasonably good performance, very average officials and a hard defeat to accept. I’m behind us and happy to see what the Nige era brings, but let’s all be honest about how bad we we’re tonight. If you watched that game then you saw a team bereft of idea and a complete lack of ability when in possession. Forest were poor. So many poor final balls. We will get walloped at home soon. The most galling last five minutes I can remember watching City. I had absolutely no doubt they would equalise, given our penchant for throwing away 1-0 wins this season and the fact that they forced countless corners and every time their players ran at our fullbacks we looked decidedly edgy, but to go on and lose it was a real sickener. Yes, we should have had a pen and Wells ought to have buried his shot that he struck the post with, but their spot-kick was a stonewaller and until we scored Forest had been well on top. You can argue we looked decent in patches second half but once again there was very little end product and in the context of our abysmal home run and the manner in which we capitulated last five minutes there are zero crumbs of comfort No, we attacked more than we have done in the last 10 home games … Scott missed an open goal and we should have had a pen. We could have won that 3-0 We haven’t looked like winning 3-0 at home for bloody ages so for me we played well Forest have won the last 3 so they are hardly mugs. Tonight is really frustrating but I’ve seen a lot of positives over the 90 mins Is is NP fault that’s Scott puts a shot wide from 5 yards out? Stats only tell a small part of the story. Funny then that Cooper's turned Forest around because he famously is a data driven man. RE: Opposition Fans Comments - zicorice - 20-10-2021 Some surprisingly balanced comments among the usual one-eyed Worzell rubbish, ("we could have won 3-0). Most saw their goal as against the run of play and our equaliser as inevitable thats certainly how it felt at the game. I had a great view of Taylor winner from one side of goal and at the time wondered if he was off side but never worried about handball. Replays show not offside. Not handball either. Both teams could/should have been given a pen. Fact is we were the better side for most of the game. Fair result. |
