Fair comment.

He's earned it. Good attitude and that came through in the recent press conference. A smile on his face.

SA.

Well then how am I supposed to believe it?

Sorry, but I've never seen anything officially state we got 3.5m for Soudani, other than Twitter rumours & suchlike from folk who claimed we were signing Mbaye Diagne this window

I mean, it makes no sense. We signed him for 3m Euros according to the NEP, so £2.65m

So why would a season later, after being out injured for most of it, his value INCREASE to 3.5m?

Did Darikwa go for 3m to Wigan after we paid 2m for him? No, he went for nothing. No players value increases by being out the team injured.

Someone's telling big fat porkie pies here IMO

Come on Alf it's not rocket science. EM owns both clubs he can set the fee whatever he wants. What Soudani was worth is one thing but what EM paid is another. Think about it, it's very simple mate.

A players true value goes out the window when a player moves between two clubs owned by the same person.

You don't have to sell at exactly market rate, teams pay over the odds for players all the time. Particularly if the buyer also has a vested interest in the sale.

Anyway, Soudani was a great player, gutted we sold him (in case there are any FFP police reading this)  :D

Sorry mate, doesn't stack up at all. I flat out don't believe a word of it.

If someone gives me a link to a reported fee then fair enough. But it stands it doesn't make any sense, and asking someone to believe in a figure pulled out of thin air, on top of the fact that figure is for 850k extra than we paid after a lengthy injury is really stretching it.

More than happy to change my mind if anyone can provide any evidence, even rumours or reports with the press. I can't find anythin though.

You're aware this is essentially an intercompany transfer right? It will always be undisclosed for precisely the reason above, it's clearly over market value and they don't want to raise loads of red flags. Seems like common sense to me.

The main reason I believe this to be the case is it just makes rational sense, if Oly don't need the money on their books and we struggle with FFP why wouldn't you do this? He's not gaining or losing money, just moving it between two companies.

Again though Soudani was a fantastic player though and I will always cherish the memories of his appearances...

Pretty sure it’s the reverse in UK law, connected party transactions have to get disclosed.

Plus it’s two different legislations.

Also not sure I've mentioned it but WE'RE IN A PANDEMIC, no-one has any money.

NO one has money, shame we dont and have owners willing to invest, as in a pandemic, good bargains to be had!

They are investing, to the tune of 35m operating losses minus whatever we make in transfer sales. Plus whatever extra losses we took on from no crowds, which based on our last accounts looks to be around 10m plus any TV rebates or anything like that.

Are you referring to the £34.4m?

That's not cash, it takes into account depreciation etc.

There was an increase of salary commitments of 8.6m on the prior year and other expenses of 3.7m.

That's simply mismanagement no matter how you dress it up.

I never mentioned cash, you're right though it's not operating cash but whichever way you dress it up the 35m loss has to be funded in some way.

For the record its predominantly wages and transfer fee amortisation (which in most cases will actually already have been paid) so they've already contributed in that case.

You are right though, an increase of 8m on wages but a decrease of 10 places doesn't make great reading! Also, should be noted these were the accounts for the year before last so likely to have seen a further increase. I think we're all painfully aware that we are underachieving this season and should really be somewhere near midtable.

I think there are some mitigating factors which do tend to get overlooked ie the loss of the majority of our best players from last season and the fact that statistically (at least in the first half of the season) we missed a lot of chances which could be argued as unlucky.

It’s not a 35m loss though.

Investing is cash or loans.

Its an operating loss of 35m yes. Thats the literal term, even if you exclude amortisation and depreciation its 25m. So thats income minus wages. That will require  either sales or loans/cash invested to pay that.

The amortisation is the value of the transfer fees paid spread over the length of the contract. Cash is likely to be paid in instalments, probably quicker than that though so they would also need to cover that.

So yes without player sales they are required to invest a minimum of 25m given we dont have any cash in the bank. Thats before any transfers.

So both Bong and Cafu who were written off by many as being totally shit are proving people wrong again just like Watson did. Cafu has earnt himself a permanent deal and Bong is improving with regular game time and is in the team on merit.

I do worry that Cafu will struggle to get in the team when everyone is fully fit. Decent squad player to have though, can't imagine he's on big wages either

I thought bong was a liability again yesterday, and looking forward Riberio coming back in. Whilst Cafu is a stop gap that was made permanent due to circumstances on the number of loans we have, something I said would happen if we continued to look at loans. He didn’t have the best of games yesterday (but battled hard) and has done ok so far, nothing more, nothing less.

Current Nottingham Forest Players - wassy04 - 03-02-2021

Not really sure where to put this but just read an interview from CH about everyone favourite non existent keeper Diallo.

Apparently he's been injured most of the season hence not being involved but is now training and looks a decent keeper...

RE: What Is The Clubs Transfer Strategy - Sniffer Dog (Admin) - 03-02-2021

Thanks for clearing that up. So he does exist after all.

Which interview was that Wassy?

RE: What Is The Clubs Transfer Strategy - Sniffer Dog (Admin) - 03-02-2021

Our transfer strategy is really coming together now then with both Cafu and Bong in the starting eleven and even Diallo training and looking like a decent keeper  :D
