I got what you meant and I agree to a point, I think this probably applied more earlier in the year before people realised they were actually good. My point was not too overrate them either, they are still 11th in the league with a negative GD, a midtable team which is an impressive achievement (and one we would've 100% taken!). However, similar to the likes of Fulham etc they are not world beaters just well organised and disciplined. I am much more hopeful of beating them than Chelsea or Man Utd or even Bournemouth atm! They are on worryingly good form, I hope they have tailed off by then if we need it. RE: Are We Going Down? - Username - 20-04-2026 I think Sunderland can go 6th if they win on Friday? So it's unlikely. RE: Are We Going Down? - Username - 20-04-2026 Didn’t realise that there were any midweek games! RE: Are We Going Down? - BadDog - 20-04-2026 We are now 2nd in the form table over the last 5 with 10 scored and 4 conceded. No one has scored more than us over the last 5 games! Please say that again BD but a bit louder. RE: Are We Going Down? - Sausage Roll - 21-04-2026 There's an article on the BBC about the relegation battle today. In the last nine seasons our current tally of 36 points was enough to stay up. It'd be nice if it was this season too but I can't see it. RE: Are We Going Down? - Mcforest - 21-04-2026 No chance. 36 is enough. This could be a record breaking season requirement if spurs beat wolves at the weekend. RE: Are We Going Down? - Fumanchew - 21-04-2026 I know it’s not an exact science but using the last 5 games as an indicator we have 1.8 ppg spurs have 0.4 ppg If we kept on at our current rate spurs would have to get 15 points from their last 5 games so win them all Let’s say we lose Friday and then look at our last 5 including that, we’d be on 1.6 ppg. They’d still have to win all 5 games but let’s say they do beat wolves the next day. It moves them up to 1.25 ppg and if that carries on they’d still be 3 points behind us at the end of the season. West Ham on the other hand have 1.6 ppg carrying on like that would net them another 8 points, spurs would have to get 11 points from the remaining games 3 wins and 2 draws but if they beat wolves and West Ham lose to Everton they’d be on the same 1.25 ppg and if that were to carry on West Ham would be down. So it’s far more important for spurs (of course) to just concentrate on bettering West Ham’s next 5 fixtures. I’m just not sure apart from the wolves game where points happen for the both of them currently RE: Are We Going Down? - Sausage Roll - 21-04-2026 If Spurs don't beat Wolves I think they're cooked. We could really pile the pressure on with a win on Friday night. RE: Are We Going Down? - Mcforest - 21-04-2026 Honestly looking at our run in we have by far the hardest set of games. And even though we have the points we are in a worse position than west ham and spurs. I would be more comfortable if the 5 points gap was between us and west ham rather than spurs, who out of the three have the most likely points score-able games. Five remaining games and I expect Forest to get 3 points from 3 draws. I don't see an out and out win West ham could be 4 draws or 3 draws and Leeds on the beach last game of season gifting WH the win for 6 points. Spurs two wins thanks to Wolves and a switched off Leeds and two draws most likely Everton and Chelsea. All teams on 39 and goal difference comes into play. RE: Are We Going Down? - Sausage Roll - 21-04-2026 So many variables. Chelsea and Newcastle (and to a lesser degree Man U) are total basket-cases this season and anything could happen. It's not inconceivable to think we could turn them both over - or vice versa. |
